Gabby Woods loves a mystery, but is breaking into an abandoned lake house going too far to uncover the truth?

Thirteen-year-old Gabby Woods is looking forward to another summer vacation at her family’s lake house, even though she would rather bury herself in a mystery novel than make new friends. But soon Gabby befriends Paige, a snarky kid from Chicago, and they get caught up in a local mystery: the sudden disappearance of a glamorous couple and the extravagant lake house they left behind.

To gather clues about the missing couple, Paige coaxes Gabby into trespassing, even though she knows it’s wrong. Yet, each sneaky visit to the abandoned lake house uncovers new mysteries. With suspicions mounting about foul play, Gabby must decide what she’s willing to risk to uncover the truth, or if solving this mystery - and keeping her friendship with Paige - are more trouble than they’re worth.

My 8 year old son loved it! I’ve been eyeing this book since it was released and held off on buying because my son has more than 100+ books already. He’s been looking a little bored recently because he has re-read most, if not all books many of times. I immediately checked my amazon wishlist and thought it would be a good idea if I finally got him this one. I’m so glad I did, not only are the illustrations beautiful but the characters seem so natural. It feels like you’re watching a movie. Love the little parts like Gabby walking back to her house to find her brother calling her into the garage because he found something, only to find out it’s a pregnant cat. 😄 My son could not stop talking about the book. He was so happy. He finished it within two hours but I catch the book on his desk every once in a while. He loves it. Please make a part TWO!!!!

Such a cute story with a mystery twist. My 8 and 10 year olds loved it (and I must admit I loved it too). The pictures are wonderful. We found ourselves laughing through the whole book. Hope there is another adventure with Gabby and Paige next summer. And we loved the cat!

Although it is a children's book, it can also provide a very good reading experience for adult readers.
I love how the 'detective' story entangled with wonderful character developing. It reminds me how exciting and fun it could be when you were a child.

My kid hasn’t put this down since she got it today. She is devouring all it! (I will write more about the story once I pry it from her and read it myself).
