Trespassers was my second venture into the mind of Jon Athan, after Rotten Apples. I got to say, what a dramatic boost in extreme horror! This book was even more bleak and disturbing than Rotten Apples, and that’s saying something considering that book was already very disturbing. It’s kind of funny too because the themes and characters reminded a lot of Rotten Apples. Now, according to the dear reader letter, this book was loosely based on a real-life home invasion that happened in Cheshire, Connecticut back in 2007. I looked into the true crime after I finished the book and it was a hard thing to read about. Jon Athan wisely takes liberties with the real case to avoid exploitation, but the story he came up with was very engaging and heartbreaking because of the horrible things that happen to the Cohen family in the story. They felt like real people and I kept hoping things worked out for them. And then I realized what kind of book I was reading. Everything about this book was disturbing and hard to read, but I knew I had to finish it. I am glad that I did! Jon Athan is a talented writer and a fellow horror fan that knows how to get under your skin. May he continue to write and disturb until he crosses the finish line!

I loved reading this book. It's fast paced, realistic, and very violent. I feel like I can connect with each characters point of view from the wealthy close knit family, to the withdrawing drug addict, to the short temper boyfriend/dealer. You always know exactly how each character is thinking and feeling throughout the whole book. It was a hard book to put down because it doesn't slow down or get boring at all. I love ALL of the books I have read from Jon Athan. He is the king of Horror and Gore in my opinion and he puts out books faster than I can read them!

I love Jon's books because they get right to the point without a lot of boring details. They could happen in real life like this one. I must admit sometimes I have to say, "Ok, that's enough of Jon Athan for a while." Then I go right back to find another one. Trespassers is on the slasher side, lots of blood and gore. More survivors at the end would have been nice, but that doesn't always happen. Good job Jon!

So glad that Mr Athan writes stories to reflect the depravity in some of societies inhumane creatures. I enjoy reading stories that gear toward real life tragedies as opposed to anything of the supernatural genre which I find unrealistic & boring. As a woman that has shared many scary situations with family & friends that I had suffered throughout my life, I' m in total awe of how many sick people exist. I find myself extremely fortunate to have had the instinct to survive and am still here today to have the opportunity to see (if only in the authors imagination) other stories relating to horrific depravity.
This story was another excellent read and will take some time to return the piece of my soul that it snatched from me.

I didn't like this one too much. The reality is bad, horrible things do happen to people but reading about the torture, rape and killing of kids is my NO, NO! This story also reminded me of the horrible crime that occurred in Cheshire, CT years ago (I am a Connectican) in which a woman and her two daughters were murdered during a home invasion that included the same type of theft from the bank, rapes, and fire...yes, I'm triggered and again I feel the bad guy...the main bad guy got off WAY toooooo easy!!! His demise was a cupcake compared to anyone else's...I HATE when that happens; I feel cheated!😱🤔

This was another awesome book, by Jon Athan, one of the masters of Extreme Horror 👏! I luved this book, it was well written and the storyline, was real, real scary 😨 and so violent, nasty, disturbing and cruel 😳! What makes this story even more disturbing, evil and sad is, it's loosely based on a true story from Connecticut. I definitely recommend picking this book up...it will leave you cringing days after 😬!

5.0 out of 5 stars Disturbing but excellent read

Well this was another great book from Mr Athan and true to nature with it being extreme. This was without a doubt very extreme but at the same time a good read. It also highlights how things like this can and does happen a nd how some people are that intimidated that they follow even though they know it's wrong. It also highlights how drugs can make you change an do the most uncharacteristic things. But all said and done a fantastic storyline and well written and once you start your hooked. Probably wrong choice of words there but you get my meaning hopefully. Well if definitely recommend you give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Another gritty, gruesome and graphic read from Jon Athan. Hard going at times, but gripping from start to finish..terrible but terrific in equal measure.
