"Life is a very long and arduous journey. Virtuous people suffer its trials and tribulations, as do those not so virtuous. The secret to a happy ending lies in our ability to persevere through the difficult times, learn from our mistakes, and then take responsibility for our own happiness, rather than entrusting it to someone else."
Joseph, Jeff (2012-01-02). The Trials of Virtue (Kindle Locations 3197-3199). Jeff Joseph. Kindle Edition.
There is very little character interaction and WAY too much blabbering. The endlessly long paragraphs failed to keep my attention, and in fact had me skipping page after page by the time I reached Chapter 35. It almost feels like the author was trying to meet a word quota. I found myself often reading paragraph after paragraph and thinking, "If he omitted this sentence and this sentence it'd be so much better." And I won't even go into my thoughts on the exclamation points.
The occasional reader will probably enjoy this. The avid reader, however, may dislike it for the same reasons I didn't. The characters are likeable, and as I said, the storyline is good. It certainly has potential. It just gets lost in all the extra unnecessary "stuff" to the point of disinterest.
