I've reviewed several of the Dr. Seuss interactive children's books developed by Oceanhouse Media, and they've all been extremely well done. Oceanhouse has done a great job of creating interactive books that hold kids' attention both with the storyline and the interactive features. It's also a very effective learning experience as kids associate with vocabulary words both visually and by the spoken word.
The story can be read in any of three modes: 1. Read the book yourself, swiping pages when you're ready for the next page. 2. Let a narrator read the book aloud, with you swiping the pages when you're ready for the next page. 3. Auto-Play. Same as #2, but the pages turn automatically.
Besides the narrator's voice, there are some cool Halloween sound effects.
The book is rated for all ages, but it's recommended for ages 2 - 5. It's a fun story of Little Critter and the family getting ready for Halloween: Going to the store to shop for costumes and decorations, going to a farm to find the perfect pumpkin, making a jack o' lantern, the party at school, and finally time to go trick or treating.
And don't let your kids overlook the little mouse that's in most scenes. Click on him every time you see him and get a score at the end.
I purchased this along with several others to entertain my Grandkids. The interactive "find the mice" etc. is enjoyed by each one. These books were an old favorite of my children when they were little and are just as entertaining as they were 30+ years ago. Very handy when you have a fusy Grandbaby to keep quiet and happy. The best part is not having to carry around and armload of books. My Grandkids love Grandma's "toys" on her phone and kindle!
