5.0 out of 5 stars Mild odor, easy to use, WAY better than raw linseed.
By Cathy A. on April 13, 2018
Broke all the "rules" with this stuff and it still worked great. Refinishing a 75 year old hardwood floor and decided to oil only. Wanted NO fumes but still a quick cure time. Found out that's a tall order as most manufacturers use tons of chemicals in linseed oil to make it cure fast. This product is not recommended by the company for floors but I didn't want to use their low VOC version, that can be used for floors. I was sticking to my guns with regards to NO fumes. This danish oil is food safe, for use on cutting boards and the like, so it would be safe for my family and pets, and with minimal odor. It won't cure as fast as all that stinky, flammable crap out there but it does cure pretty quickly, compared to raw linseed. Just finished the oiling 3 days ago and my floor looks gorgeous. It's not a high traffic area so time will tell how well it stands up. I may need to spot oil a few times a year but with this danish oil it's SO EASY. And you don't have to move the family out of the house for a week due to toxic fumes. It's a tad expensive but it goes a long, long way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Danish Oil by far.
By stacey collins on December 21, 2017
I refinish 1950s and 60s Danish teak furniture and this is by FAR the best product I've found. I actually like the smell (my assistant says it smells like a Chinese restaurant) because it isn't chemically smelling. It's a joy to work with and leaves a much nicer (more authentic to the period pieces) finish than any of the other more commonly available Danish Oils we've tried.

5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality - 1 small can goes a long way!
By Nathaniel on November 25, 2018
Tried and True Danish Oil, Pint

Got this for a butcher block I was sanding and refinishing. Very highly recommend it! Creates a slight water resistant barrier, and gives wood a golden brown look. One coat is enough to make the wood look decent, more coats just help to increase the water resistance (more oil in the wood = less water that can get in). If you're going to cut or eat directly off a surface, use this stuff. Poly and other clear barriers will get cuts and create plastic "shards" that can get into your food. For best results, you apply this stuff, wipe it off after 5 minutes (gets off the access so it isn't pooling and sticky), then wait 8 hours. Using steel wool (0000 grade) will help burnish the surface and give it a more satin or glossy finish. One can will literally last you for about 20 tables, fyi. This stuff goes a long way! I'm a Tried and True guy after my experience with this product. Oh and it is nontoxic, but does have a smell like vegetable oil at first. It goes away after a few hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, looks much better!
By Auntie Martha on October 26, 2019
Cleaning up a teak desk and credenza that had a couple decades of dirt, water rings, etc. There were definitely dry patches. I cleaned with warm water, liquid detergent (1-2 tsp) using 0000 steel wool and a rag to keep the wood from getting too wet, and to remove dirty water. After letting the pieces dry overnight, applied the oil with a *thin* layer (like you're very lightly buttering a pan). Let sit 5 min, buff with a clean cloth, and repeat in 8hrs or more. Watch their YouTube video for tips. Pics shown after 3rd coat and buffing (just on top, not doing the sides again).

Results are better than expected, and would be even better had I done a complete sand of the tops to get at the large white splotches and the gouges (which looked white and are now darker).

I think where this is raw wood, after finishing it be a bit darker than the surrounding wood, but it all looks so much better and blends nicely - very pleased. I have more teak pieces to do and probably 90% left in the pint - it's going to last a good, long while, a little really does go a long way.

And like the other reviews say, it smells like old vegetable oil. Inoffensive, the house doesn't stink and you don't feel like you're getting high on solvents. Perfect. So if you're overwhelmed with the options (other Danish oils, special blends, Tung oils, linseed oil varieties, etc) and trying to figure out which one to try - take the leap. Good results!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Finish.
By Daniel T on June 27, 2020
I recently started food making serving boards, and I was using butcher block oil. I honestly was never enthralled with what mineral oil looks like on wood.
I have used Watco danish oil for years, and I did some research on looking for a certified “food safe” danish oil and came across this one.

I will NEVER use Any other Danish oil besides this danish oil ever again. The finish is like one I have never seen before! The price tag is not only worth it, it’s absolutely deserving for a product of this caliber.

I am so grateful to have found this danish oil.
