The main character is a boy named Michael. We follow him as he travels from Africa to join an invitation only school, the Hero Institute, that specializes in super hero training. Michael also lives in a Dystopian world that was torn apart by fighting and the same organization that runs Hero Institute is trying to regain control of the world and bring peace. The Trifecta is the name of the group.
Of course, there are plot twists you never see coming and absolutely nothing is cut and dry for Michael. I particularly loved the pace that the world is built. It isn’t rushed, but it also doesn’t take until the very end for something to happen. Very few authors can pull off the perfect pace like in this book. Add to that the descriptive writing and highly imaginative story line and you have an amazing Young Adult dystopian novel. Although, I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying this book, even if they are a little older than a young adult. I know I sure did.
Don’t miss out, definitely add this to your TBR list!
This book is well-written, fast-paced, with a sprint to the ending. There is no room for a break here as your imagination will be occupied with likeable characters - that have values, character, and a winning spirit - I might add.
This book is fully developed with a tremendous plot, underlying lessons, and very well-structured paragraphs. This book is easy-to-read, but complex enough to challenge the reader. The Trifecta is fun, imaginative, and a great experience for anyone that is willing to go on a day long thrill-ride (because you won't want to walk away from this one!)
J.P. Brewner is a tremendous author with a bright future. I cannot wait for the next installment. Highly recommended!
This book reminds me of the graphic novel Watchmen (but less gritty), and the comic series The Boys (but less obscenely vulgar…), with the “someone’s taking them down from the inside” vibe. Oops, spoilers for Watchmen and The Boys, I guess… It also reminds me of The Walking Dead somewhat, because while this is ostensibly a “superhero” story, that aspect kind of takes a back seat to the larger story that is going on. And the story that is there is really exciting: murder mystery, intrigue, suspense, and of course superhero action, all comes together to make a fantastic story.
There has been a resurgence of YA books recently, that has been of such a good quality, that everyone reads them. That is both good and bad, because I have more great things to read, but on the other hand, I HAVE MORE GREAT THINGS TO READ…. Regardless of my extreme loss of free time, I really enjoyed this book, and can’t wait to jump into the next volume, that luckily just came out!
This book follows Michael, who has special powers. The world he lives in is very different from our own. Chaos rules and he joins forces with a group called Trifecta to help restore peace.
Unfortunately he soon finds that he can't trust anyone and nothing is as it seems.
The story was never boring and there were enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end. THEN you will be left anticipating the next book in the series!
Michael is also a great role model for the younger readers to look up too. Highly recommend!
