Eight years later and Preston is met with a vision from his past. Emma Turner was a member of his college band and the one woman he could have fallen for if his heart was whole. Now forced to work in the same vicinity, it takes all of Preston’s willpower not to fall for her. He’s afraid she will turn tail and run when she finds out what he actually does for a living.
Emma can't believe that after disappearing one night eight years ago he has resurfaced. Eventually, she finds out what caused the disappearance and what he's been doing since the night he took off. She also finds what happened to his mother and sister when he was a teen. She is out to prove to him that she still wants to be there for him and with him.
Now it's up to Preston to decide his next move.
I have read many books by Ms. Dover and I can tell you with 100% honesty that her books just keep getting better. This book was a non-stop page turner. I didn’t even want to put it down to go to sleep. The book then invaded my dreams. You know you have a winner when that happens.
By LP Dover
I'll be honest, I own a TON of books by LP Dover. I had the pleasure of meeting her last year at a book signing and bought almost every book she had at the event! However, this was the first book I have actually read from her. I was NOT disappointed.
The book is a perfect combination of love and action. Not too sappy or lovey dovey, and it absolutely keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Preston is a total #bookboyfriend and #alphamale - and he just so happens to kill people for a living. Sex offenders and pedophiles being his main target. His goal is to find the man who killed his mother and sister years ago.
Emma is a sweet, yet tough girl who works for a well known and super wealthy man. Little does she know, she is a pawn in his master plan. Her and Preston have a history together, and she may be the only one to help bring some light into his life of darkness.
The story has some interesting twists and has that "guess the killer" element to it, which I loved. There are also some oh-so-steamy scenes you wont want to miss.

I've read a couple of books by Ms. Dover, her Gloves Off series being my favorite, this one, however, was different.
Preston's past chased him out of college and into a dark world that would take hold of him and change him forever.
Emma was his band buddy and friend. When Preston disappeared without a word she was left wondering and a bit heartbroken.
This story focuses on the demon that haunts Preston, his past, and the love Emma and he will soon start to share.
The story was good, it had a good pace. The plot was good too, could have used a little more suspense. I would have liked to see a little more of Preston and Emma before they were 'torn apart'. But overall a good story. I cannot wait to read Wade's story and I hope to see a little more of Glenn and the rest of the Chandler brothers
Trigger is a story about a man who has become dark and vengeful because of some things that happened in his past. While in college, he attempted to live a normal life until something causes a trigger" and the real him is awakened. While on a job, he receives a phone call from a family friend in which he returns home. There he stumbles into someone from his past that he tries to ignore. Of course, that doesn't work.
As the story progresses, we learn a little more about Preston's life and what has caused him to develop into the cold, closed off man he is. His vulnerability is brought to the light through his connection with Emma as she works to help him heal from the past.
What I can say about this story is that some of the characters could have been developed a bit more. Emma at times lacked maturity, as did Preston's. There were things in that had me a bit confused. Mostly the end and how they worked to catch the mark. I can't give away this part, but I don't believe a man would let his woman be involved to the point of risk even if it yields a positive result.
Overall, I gave this story 4 stars because I believe the series has potential and it was pretty decent for someone who enjoys a vigilante read. In the end, justice does prevail. You can't go wrong with that!
