The Grid, by Trigger Point Performance, is the most versatile and comprehensive foam roller and workout tool available. This revolutionary tool features Distrodensity Zones, a unique matrix of varying widths and densities that allows for a precision massage based on unique and individual needs. Just as a massage therapist uses different parts of the hand and arm to manipulate different muscle groups, The Grid's Distrodensity Foam Zones enable you to apply varying amounts of pressure to help massage and release tight muscles. The Grid provides the perfect blend of portability and size but can support more than 500 lbs of weight. The Grid is also backed by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects - we're confident it won't break down or fail under normal use. Bonus SMRT-CORE Level 1 instructional DVD included.
Forget everything you ever knew about traditional foam rolling with the revolutionary Grid foam roller, which comes bundled with the SMRT-CORE Level 1 exercise DVD. Made using EVA foam, the Grid's unique design allows for a more targeted massage, with multiple Distrodensity zones of varying widths and densities. Just as a massage therapist uses different parts of the hand and arm to manipulate different muscle groups, these Distrodensity zones apply pressure in different ways, allowing for a precision massage based on your unique needs. Whether your sore spot is in your lats, quads, lower back, or any other large muscle group, the Grid works through it.
The Grid foam roller provides different pressure points for more precise massages.
The DVD then moves on to class exercises, which are clearly explained so that you understand the movements for each exercise within the specific level. Traditional exercises such as pushups, crunches, planks, and bridges are modified so you can perform them while positioning your body on the Grid. The DVD then breaks down the exercise so that you can add additional exercises into your own routine. Finally, the DVD includes a warm-up and two individual workouts. Each workout will challenge you to create a stronger, more stable core.
The Grid--which is made using less foam than traditional foam rollers--supports more than 500 pounds, and is built to withstand constant, heavy, and repeated use without breaking down. Plus, the Grid is compact, so you can bring it with you wherever you go. The Grid is backed by a one-year against manufacturing defects.

Even without the DVD, the foam roller itself is quality, with a hard, hollow plastic tube, surrounded by a foam grid of differing densities. I was using the thera-cane for trigger points on my legs and back, but to explore and relieve a wider region, this foam roller is great.
I was running 3-5 miles every other day and doing light stretches afterwards.
Started developing it band problems (in both legs) and my calves were beyond tight. I borrowed the roller (not the dvd) from an expert orthopedist. The pain at first was almost unbearable..I had looked up a basic leg routine from youtube and it really really hurt.
About a week later I squeezed out 1.5 miles with light to moderate pain. In two weeks I was up to 2.5 miles. About 3-4 weeks later and I am running like normal..probably a little better than normal since I don't have the nagging lower back pain I used to have afterwards.
Now the price of this thing put me off so I did end up buying a couple of normal foam roller that I used for about a month each. It's quite a search to find one that doesn't eventually develop channels in them..or lose bits of it on your carpet or whatever..also stashing it the closet or under the bed is kind of a hassle since they are sort of big.
So I ended up forking out the money and buying one. It is quite rigid and it will put the hurt on you if you're not used to it. My discomfort faded after about a week or so. I stash this in plan sight too, because I can fit a slender vase full of fake flowers in it and it looks like modern art haha.
I don't think the channels thing really makes a difference. I can't feel one verses a normal foam roller. If you're a smaller guy/girl you can roll both quads and calves on it. A medium or larger size person will be rolling one leg at a time.
If I'm not running that day. I use it once in the morning, then once at night. (I bike commute as well, so I'm always active)
If I am running, I use it pre run and post run.
The little workout dvd is an ok core workout if you're not used to doing them. It also shows you how to do the level 2 and level 3 versions again, if your a medium to larger sized person you may not be able to do the workouts properly with this roller.
I hated to spend this much money on something like this but overall I'd say I am happy.
It arrived as promised and works great! The video could use more details using it on different body parts so I watched a youtube video to learn how to use it on my areas of pain. It's very painful at first and I'm not putting all my weight on it yet but it's getting better. Maybe I should have started with a foam roller first then built myself up to the trigger point roller. I would purchase again.
