Top customer reviews
And if you don't already have Amazon Prime, get it! Its my Christmas present to myself every year. $85.00 usually pays itself off in 2 or 3 months. The rest is gravy!
As of right now, the 1080p picture coming from my graphics card, to this splitter, to an hdmi cable and then to my television screen looks crystal clear, so this product can work perfectly fine, so long as I don't touch it.
There really weren't many of these to choose from when I purchased it so this still may be your best choice on amazon and I guess its hard to complain about such a cheap piece of hardware, but I have to mark it down on its quality.
2 Cons I personally have that really don't warrant less than 5 stars:
* If you have big fingers and thumbs it might be a little hard to tighten the screws down to your TV...BUT...you only have to do it once if you plan to keep it hooked up to the TV permanently.
* The angle of the photo shown here on Amazon.com made it look smaller. It sticks out a bit longer from the TV in the back than what you might expect. You may be looking at an estimated 4 to 5 inch cable sticking out of the back of your TV (that's after the HDMI cable is plugged into the adapter) if you are planning to put your TV up against the wall as much as you can. If you are looking for something that doesn't stick out a lot I'd recommend just getting an HDMI to DVI cable without the adapter. (Although that would cost $30-40. If you already have an HDMI cable on hand then this is the obvious choice.)
The reason I didn't give it a less-than 5 stars is the quality of this adapter along with the results I had on my TV completely outdoes any of the cons I personally had with it.
This product worked, but it seems that the laptop can't identify the monitor make/model.
Therefore, my laptop keeps it's "last working setting" from a docking station I have at work.
My home monitor is larger, but because the monitor make/model/type isn't transmitted, it seems I'm stuck with a large boarder not being used.
Performing an "identify monitor" in Windows does indicate "1" (for the primary monitor).
I'm not sure of the electrical pin-out configuration used to translate DVI<->HDMI, but it seems something is being lost.
I have the Micro HDMI to HDMI Cable from Rocket Fish and that works fine connects to my monitor in the HDMI connector.
I needed a Female HDMI to Male DVI-D Adapter to hook to my monitor's DVI Input and bought 2 of these based on the reviews.
The item is not as pictured, nor does it say Tripp Lite on it. Also neither of them work and fail to connect to 3 different monitors.
