Protect Your Valuable Electronics from Damaging Power Surges
It could happen in the blink of the eye: a sudden power surge that damages or destroys your valuable electronic components. And even if a catastrophic surge never strikes, smaller power fluctuations and electromagnetic line noise can disrupt equipment settings and corrupt or erase important data. The solution to protect your computer and other electronics from surge damage and data loss? Tripp Lite's TLP606 Protect It! Surge Suppressor. In one compact, cost-effective unit, the TLP606 provides reliable surge protection for all electronics. It features a 790-joule surge suppression rating—more joules mean more protection for your valuable components! The TLP606 also filters out disruptive line noise that can degrade component performance, helping to assure that your equipment performs at its peak.
Versatile Protection for All Electronics and Improved Component Performance
The TLP606 offers economical surge protection for PCs, peripheral devices and all electronics. It provides 6 AC outlets, including one outlet that accommodates a bulky transformer without blocking other outlets. A 6-foot cord enables connection to a distant wall outlet.
Various electromagnetic and radio sources can cause disruptive interference on the AC line. This line noise is a common cause of incremental hardware damage, data corruption and performance problems. The TLP606 incorporates technology that filters out disruptive line noise, preventing it from affecting your equipment, and helping to assure peak performance.
Powerful AC Line Surge Suppression and Built-In Diagnostic Capability
The TLP606 provides 790 joules of surge suppression to prevent surges from damaging your valuable electronics. Includes full normal mode (H-N) and common mode (N-G/H-G) line surge suppression.
A green diagnostic LED indicates that surge protection is available. If this Protected LED ever goes out, simply return the TLP606 to Tripp Lite for a free replacement. An illuminated master switch provides one-touch power control over all components.
Lifetime Product Warranty and Ultimate Lifetime Insurance
The TLP606 comes with Ultimate Lifetime Insurance—guaranteed lifetime protection for your equipment in case of surge damage, including direct lightning strikes. Additionally, this Tripp Lite Protect It! Surge Suppressor is backed by a lifetime product warranty.

Top Customer Reviews
I opened up the power strip and found that the pictured component (U1) had basically exploded, leaving a big scorch mark on the inside of the plastic casing of the power strip. My guess is that the big glob of glue holding down the inductor above it probably caused U1 to overheat and blow its top. Maybe a heat sink would be a better choice than a big warm blanket of glue.
We bought several of these for work, so I'm trying a second one charging the same battery pack. It's holding up longer than the first one, but that section of the power strip down by the USB ports is running very hot! See the attached thermal image which has the hot spot marked on it.
Thus far, I can't honestly say whether I'm confident enough in this product to put these out in peoples' offices.
To be fair, other Tripp Lite products we've used in the past years (Iso-bar power strips and Smart-Pro UPS) have been rock-solid. That was part of the reason for selecting this particular product.
Some other reviewers and commenters have, however, mentioned a manufacturing defect where the ground (third prong) socket is blocked by a piece of metal, making plugs difficult to insert. Mine also had this problem. I get the impression that this is shoddy workmanship, and that's NOT a plus. You can often force plugs in, but you shouldn't have to do that. Tripp Lite is a good company, and they should improve their manufacturing process to fix this defect.
Your experience with this strip will really depend on how many (if any) outlets are affected by this problem. Mine has one bad outlet that I had to force a plug into. That outlet generally worked well after a few times that I had to put some sweat into it.
So, good--but not great given that I don't think the manufacturing is exceptional.
Seriously, it works great. Feels solid, it's powered many expensive electronics these past months with no issues, and I dunno, hasn't held my family hostage yet!
1) plugs are close together which tends to be a problem with a lot for phone plugs, motorola, nokia, etc, luckily some phone manufacturers are getting a clue and making it sideway plugs
2) straight plug-in, a 90 degree plug should be standard for these nowadays since most outlets are behind entertainments systems and such
At $10ea, I bought 3 and got free shipping, for $30 you'd probably get a generic one at those "mart" stores with no joule rating
My computers are plugged into this, as well as my light, clock, fan, etc. There's room on the end for those little transformer boxes on chargers. The cord is long enough to move around on vacuuming day. And for energy efficiency, you can switch it off.
I have one in the kitchen, too, for the microwave and the blender and the steamer and the iron, and I do shut that one off at night. AND I have one at work, for my fine speakers. If you take one when you're traveling, you can share the outlets at airports and Starbucks, as it's small enough to pack.
Don't waste your time with those cheap ones. Do you want to burn the house down? And fry your laptop?
