I did think Liam and Stirling laid down their swords and started coming together a little too quickly once the story began and a little more easily than I would have liked, and perhaps that is due to the length constraints—I just want more! Also, the love scenes are so good, so hot, that I wish Stirling and Liam had started banging the headboard a little earlier. But I can't say how thrilled I was to get that raw urgency again in a Lorelei James couple, which really reminded me of her early work. And while I find the pot industry angle of the story totally fascinating and completely unique, some of the detail was a little much for me. Though this particular story didn't have as much cowboys and rodeo, it's appropriate for the story. I've enjoyed the tales of the Gradskys and Grants that we've gotten through this series of novellas, and Lorelei James should never, ever stop writing westerns—it's simply innate in her.
I have yet to read a 1001 Dark Nights book that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. I'm pretty sure that I need to collect each and every one! Tripped Out was no exception - it introduced me to a new author and a new series and made me fall in love! Stirling and Liam were so perfect together and I really would've loved a full length novel of them pulling pranks on each other and eventually succumbing to the attraction between them. We start the novel ten months into their relationship, though it was merely as co-workers, but really it was just a really long session of foreplay! They're both so smart and so driven and so accepting of each other - it was really sweet and beautiful. Some plot points were sort of glossed over, but I think it was just done for the sake of length and I still was satisfied reading the book. I definitely need more Blacktop Cowboys in my library! I give the book 4 out of 5 wine glasses and look forward to reading more from Lorelei James.
Ironic sixteen-year-old, Stirling Gradsky won’t join her sister London and her crowd as they’re smoking weed. Strange also she should become a partner with her brother Macon in a large cannabis operation called High Society. Macon brings in a top scientist to run the lab who rubs her the wrong way from the beginning. She delights in tormenting Liam Argent with juvenile jokes even though he has a degree from MIT. He is definitely not a party animal. The highlight of his day is when he plays her game by ignoring her. Macon requests an impromptu board meeting where the pair calls a delicate truce.
Liam has left California after being sold out and has come to Colorado and will be the scientist working with Stirling. There is so much heat coming from the two of them but neither one wants to admit that it is sexual heat at first. They prank each other just to stir the other one up. When the truth comes out, can they fool their coworkers into thinking they are still at each other's throats, or will the truth come out? Will Liam stay with the company when his contract is up?
