“I’ve always wanted you beneath me.”
Stirling and Liam
Kindle Loc. 1177 of 3045
(Pops open a can of Cannabis Cola . . . ) Gentle Readers: if you’re looking for a smart, snarky romantic read, full of delicious banter, look no further. Lorelei James has hit Colombian Gold with her latest Blacktop Cowboys novella, Tripped Out.
Although Dr. Liam Argent and Stirling Gradsky hail from very different backgrounds, they actually have quite a bit in common. They’re both smart, well-educated and have been seriously burned in the love department.
Liam has been hired by Stirling’s brother, Macon, to head up the research department of High Society, Macon’s pot growing operation in Colorado. Macon may own the company, but it’s his sister, Stirling, who runs the operation.
Liam and Stirling lock horns immediately, and the pranks the two pull on one another are brilliant, each more devious than the last one. As the pranking between these two escalates, so does the sexual tension and it’s only a matter of time before Dr. D*ckhead and Miss Dreadlocks and Multiple Piercings are professing their love for each other through a cloud of High Society’s finest ganja gold.
Tripped Out is a well-written, fast-paced trip. The characters are likable, the dialogue smart, sassy and full of truly classic innuendo. Particularly pleasing to this reader was the angst-free burn between Liam and Stirling. From the start, these two know where they’re headed; it only makes their journey more satisfying.
If you’re a fan of author James’ Blacktop Cowboy series, or a devotee of the 1001 Dark Night Series, you’ve already taken a hit off this spectacular story. If you’re unfamiliar with Lorelei James, treat yourself to Tripped Out. Just make sure you have lots of munchies on hand . . .
Stirling Gradsky and Dr. Liam Argent are adversaries but they are also alike in many ways. Their ideas for the operation and production for business vary but their bottom line is the same. They both want to produce the best product on the market and make it profitable. Work place antics and practical jokes become their foreplay. When they put aside their ego's and stubbornness, their relationship takes a passionate and explosive turn.
Two nerds who are recreational potheads find love beyond the pop tart packaging.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novella and was thrilled to see some of the beloved characters from the The Blacktop Cowboys and Rough Riders series become a part of their world.
This book is nothing like any of Lorelei's other books. I kind of feared that because I do not partake in the marijuana scene, that I would not like this book or understand any of it. I will tell you that I learned a few things while reading this book.
Liam and Stirling are a match made in heaven. In the beginning they are constantly pulling pranks on each other and trying to one up the other. Some of the things they do to each other are really funny. the kool aid in the the lab coat pocket, the suckers in Liam's lunchbox, the balloons in Stirling's car, amongst other things, make this book fun and enjoyable. About halfway through the book, is when the sexual tension starts to build and they both are pushing each other to that point, but Liam leaves it up to Stirling as when they start this sexual relationship.
It was/is an awesome book and you really will not be disappointed. These two were made for each other. Another good book Lorelei James, well done.
Received an ARC from author for my honest opinion and it had no baring on my review.
I really enjoyed how Lorelei James in depth description of the various types of marijuana. It reminded me so much of wine tasting, and the qualities of enjoying it as such. And touching on a subject of the differences of THC & CBD oil and it's help in pain management. Cannabis has become more sophisticated from the drug of youths for just getting high. Must say, it makes me want to experience a "tasting" for those difference as described....
