I really like Tripping the Rift; I have the first two seasons on DVD. Then I purchased the movie, which I was very disappointed with, so I was hoping that season three would bring me back to the fold. Unfortunately, not so much. 3 or 4 of the episodes are straight from the movie (or the movie is straight from 3 or 4 episodes depending how you look at it), so the claims of "13 ALL-NEW EPISODES" on the DVD cover doesn't ring true.

I also don't understand how they came up with the censoring of foul language. In one episode ("Raiders of the Lost Crock of $%?&*!"), they bleeped the word b*****d (but left enough in that you could tell what it was) and a couple of minutes later the word was said again but not bleeped. It seems to be a little random. I don't get why they can't put out a "grown-up" version of Tripping the Rift (i.e. rated 18 or even 16). I can handle the swearing, the crude jokes, even a little CGI nudity (the censored banners in the Raiders episode mentioned above).

There are no extras with this DVD set. No outtakes, no trailers, nothing. It really seemed like it was put together quickly and released. If I hadn't seen the movie, I probably would rate this season a bit higher. I feel the movie has damaged the franchise somewhat. Who knows if there will be a fourth season. If there is, I hope they realise there are grown ups out there who watch "Tripping the Rift" and we're OK with adult content in our favourite animated shows.

You need to be a fan to appreciate this edition, but if you are, it is really good. They do some wonderful episodes based on famous movies and write around them with the "Tripp" crew involved. Stephen Root and Maurice LaMarche, are masters of voice overs. All of the voicing is exceptional except for the sexlessness of Jenny McCarthy. Am I wrong or did she also voice HAL 9000? Since this is a DVD only release, I was surprised by the "DE-JIGGLING" of six and the language censorship. The only other things missing are Tom Kenny and Billy West. But I have to say, I popped in the DVD, and really enjoyed sitting through these episodes. I would really like to see additional filler in the future of the actors doing their voices. Seth Macfarland is doing it now, as well as Simpsons actors. The worry that seeing the actor actually doing the voice will spoil the illusion, is baloney. It is really quite entertaining to see the voice overs in action. But getting back to this edition. . get it.

First off, I'm a fan of the series and own this set, as well as the previous sets & movie, and this is probably the worst of the lot. I haven't liked the character Six since Gina Gershon stopped doing the voice after season 1.

The audio is censored, and the studio didn't even give us the option to switch to an uncensored audio track. So, you're stuck w/ 2 channel censored audio, which I think makes absolutely no sense for something on DVD that is blatantly raunchy in nature. Some of the words are ones that are commonly heard on evening TV. Sure, you are able to make out some of what is said based on the context. But there are certain spots where there is a string of 5 words that are all bleeped out.

There are also absolutely no extras. I think it has to do with laziness...this set seemed like they put minimal effort into it. The studio just put it out to sucker us fans into buying it and to have the entire series out on DVD.

This set is for die hard fans only. Or for those of you, like me, who wanted to finish off the collection.

Let me just say that J. Mccarthy sucks. She might as well have been a speak and spell.
Other than that though the season was awesome. I'm so bummed that this is the last season of Tripping the Rift. Sad face

My review for the series is found in the "Season One" review. So only talking about the packaging on this one. Although the small added book is nice, its not something you don't find in most other DVD's now days. There's nothing special about this 'pop' open DVD 2-disc set. Its almost like they said "show's over, so who cares anymore?" With the wonders 1st season packaging and at least the minimal 'box' version setup for the 2nd season, its sad they obviously just threw season 3 in a regular DVD package. I have to hope 'someday' (doubtful) they'll release a collectors set with all DVD's.

If you are planning to buy Tripping the Rift:the Movie, don't bother. They cut it up and made it into individual episodes for this disc. The graphics for the character six seem to have gone down a notch. And Jenny McCarthy sounded like she just didn't care about how dull her voice sounds.

So Tacky And Off Beat That This Had To Be The Last Season, But Man, What A Series It Was! Definately Not For The Younger Crowd And The Jokes Can Seriously Rub Some The Wrong Way But Yet It Manages To Combine Very Good Animation With Awesome One Liners That Will Keep Some Laughing. This Show Is Not Intended For Everyone. This Trip Is Only For Those Willing To Trip The Rift!

This series just kept getting better and better, and funnier and funnier. My only complaint was that Gina Gershon was no longer voicing the character of Six. The woman has the sexiest voice in the business!
