Usually when mention is made of the score to the 2010 film TRON: Legacy, blissful ignorance yields only that film's composers in one's mind: electronic duo Daft Punk. TRON: Legacy's score has to date sold over a half-million copies, and has been highly praised for its perfect musical fit to the TRON universe with its electronic and orchestral sonic palette. Though Joseph Trapanese didn't compose any of TRON: Legacy's songs per se, he was present with Daft Punk members Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter for the two-year-long process of scoring TRON: Legacy, and all arranging of and orchestration for TRON: Legacy was done by Trapanese. Given these facts, it therefore makes Trapanese the perfect musical fit to the score composition for TRON: Uprising, the animated Disney XD TV show whose events are set between the original TRON from 1982 and TRON: Legacy.

And right from the start, Trapanese displays his vision for TRON: Uprising, utilizing derivative influence from TRON: Legacy's score yet painting his own sonic canvas. Opening track "Beck's Theme - Lightbike Battle" presents the eponymous and recurring theme that sets the stage for the album, an enveloping melody wrapping in orchestral and electronic flourishes that coalesce in a powerful conclusion. "Paige's Past," one of the most varied yet grounded tracks, introduces shimmering electronic motes and soft pulses which pave the way for a calm and melancholic backdrop, before breaking into rousing guitar effects and reverb layered with orchestral touches. It becomes evident very early on that Trapanese is highly skilled at layering TRON: Legacy's inspirational elements atop other wavering effects and sequences.

Not going to lie. I had never heard of Joseph Trapanese before uprising. But he absolutely captures the feel of not just the series but the franchise overall. Personally for me he has aligned himself along side some of my favorite score creators. Love the odes to the original and new movie along with the Uprising series. So happy this was released for the fans. It could have easily not been. Now only thing left for Disney to do is give us a season 2! Which will only lead to another soundtrack.

Joseph Trapanese had this online for listening to the complete CD elsewhere. Fore those who wholly enjoy the series and the techno-style they certainly won't be disappointed.

The music is lifted right off the episodes and the themes themselves. It really is the score to the "T". (Pun intended.) One of the best, in my humble opinion, happens to be the (determined, yet mournful) "Lux's Sacrifice" as well as the "Scars" suite (which brings out the emotional range of both Tron and his nemesis Dyson). But that could be because those three episodes are among my absolute favourites. And then there's, of course, the young protagonist of the series (which carries hope as well as a weight of the responsibility he carries as he trains to follow in Tron's footsteps.) And these are just a small portion of the release. There's so much more...aside from the inspired portion.

Now if only Disney would get it's act together and give the promotion as well as attention this series deserves, place it within a proper timeslot, no more ridicules hiatus, and have a second season in the works. There's so much ground open to cover...which includes much more music to explore.

Here's to also hoping Disney seriously considers releasing a DVD of the first season. And if not a a full second season...at least an additional DVD to tie up any "loose ends". It would be a shame to put all this good effort to waste. Here's to keeping a look out on Amazon.

If you liked the music from 'Tron: Legacy' you will like the music from 'Tron: Uprising'. Joseph Trapanese orchestrated Daft Punk's music for 'Tron: Legacy' and was commissioned to compose the music for the TV series 'Tron: Uprising'. Both scores are similar, having the same driving rhythm and treatment of music themes - it is obvious that the same hand wrote them (Daft Punk's role notwithstanding). The first 16 tracks of the album are by Mr. Trapanese, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The last 4 tracks, however are 'remix' of earlier Trapanese tracks by other musicians and have a definite disco sound, which I do not care for.

If you think that the work of Daft Punk for the Tron: Legacy album can't be topped then you're completely correct. It's awesome, but what this album has done has added to and improved that album. In fact, I listen to them mixed together and it's a great combination.
"Lux's Sacrifice" and "Tron's Promise" are two of my favorites from this album. So good to have seen Tron put back in the light of this saga and the Scars Suite highlights that so very well.
I recommend this for all Tron lovers. You won't regret it.

Although Wendy's soundtrack from the first Tron movie is different from Daft Punk's soundtrack and this soundtrack for the animated series, They all are good representations of the visual they support. There's a clear connection in the Uprising soundtrack with that of Daft Punk, which it really needs to have to give consistency. It's a really good listen and fits well with the episodes.
