Developed, couldn't put it down.

A Bride Most Begrudging: I loved the subject, the development, and the length. Incredibly descriptive, Gist pulls the reader in and makes the story come alive. You will understand and feel for both the main characters, and will even find yourself thinking about your own self. You will challenged spiritually about your level of trust in the Lord, as you are entertained with this lovely historical fiction romance. It's got it all. This is not a fluffy, corny book. This is not cliche. This book is one of a kind.
However... the following 2 books in this series I do not recommend at all. They were not just my least favorite Gist books, but some of my least favorite books ever. Perhaps that is because I have always enjoyed Gist's books above any others and I expected more from these... I hated the first, but bought the second just in case it would redeem the first. And it didn't.
I did not like the main character, and ended up liking characters that later turned out to be bad. It was as if Gist was tricking me. But not on purpose. I felt pity for the all the characters and didn't put it down feeling better about anything. Very poor story line. Very poor development.
I do not suggest buying this book. Instead, buy a Bride Most Begrudging on it's own and enjoy! The 3 stars are for that book alone.
