From the Author
Married to my own Mr. Darcy, I've been enchanted with the romance, comedy, and drama of fiction inspired by Jane Austen since 2005. It's rare that a book can give you new quirky meanings and laughter with each reading, yet the Austen novels do just that.
Sadly, we don't have Miss Austen to keep on writing such great works and many of us cherish each return visit to the worlds of Emma Woodhouse, Elizabeth Bennet, or Elinor Dashwood. Women who never give in to the dreariness of the world around them and continue to find what is good and joyful to share with their family and friends. I think modern readers still connect with these great heroines not because we wish to travel back in time to play dress up, but because many of the same gender stereotypes and limitations placed upon our sex are still in place more than 200 years later.
In this story, Elizabeth Bennet finds herself the victim of vicious neighborhood gossip. Is this truly any different than the lives ruined by photos going viral, or the cyber-bullying young teens face today? We may not still hold elegant balls and elaborate dinners, but we are still faced with a culture that judges us on our commercial consumption rather than our congenial communication.
I hope you enjoy The Trouble With Horses which was a personal celebration for me to write. It's been three years since I published my first novel, Cancelled, and with Horses, I simply gave myself permission to write a story I would love to read again and again. My goal is to make every reader smile at the final heart. Thank you so much for stopping by.
