No finer will you find in fly fishing books. Schweibert's best. And a must have for the serious collector, but getting both books and the slip case is both tough and expensive. These books cover American fly fishing from every angle - the history, the characters and contributors, the fish, the insects and their imitations, the rods, the reels, leaders, and so on. Thousands of pages and some of the best artwork you have ever seen. Books you will no doubt want to hand down to your children. Hopefully my pictures will help you understand the wealth of information that awaits you. Happy reading and tight lines.

Format: Hardcover
Words do not do justice to this magnificent work of Art. This two volume book is THE source for the most complete information on flyfishing for salmonids. The section on tackle may look somewhat dated to the reader but the chapter on bamboo rods is one of the richest and most complete sources of information ever compiled.
A true magnum opus.

These two wonderful volumes of over 1,700 pages are the definitive story of trout fishing. A monumental work by an intellectual who also happened to be one of the best and most knowledgeable fly fisherman of his generation. This, and great writing too, not to mention attractive illustrations. A "must read" for any fly fishing aficionado and a "must have" for any fly fishing book collector.

The reading is easy, and you will have no trouble getting through this work from beginning to end. This is not a book you sell (after you've read it) for $1/volume at your next garage sale. This is a book you pass on to the next generation.

The discussions of the latest equipment are, of course, dated. But the history of equipment is not, and this is a timeless book to be enjoyed by generations to come.

Schwiebert was also a notable architect who worked on design teams for both the Air Force Academy and the Dallas-Fort Worth airport early in this career. That fly fishing and the lore of fly fishing lured him away from practicing architecture full time attests to the commitment and dedication of his contribution to the robust and rich trout fishing literary tradition.

The books were clean and perfect. My only problem with the purchase was there was no slipcase as was shown in the picture.
