carburetor claims to have a two year warranty. It does not. B&S claims that bad gasoline (fuel you buy that contains 10 percent ethanol) causes corrosion and they will not cover $!24.00 a new carb. Used 4 times. Just returned from repair shop and high pressure hose blows out. $58.00 Bought new one. Now the tip of the pressure washer is leaking.. Bad O ring. Note buy only 93 octane and use a stabilizer product, then hope......... Note bought at Lowes. They will not help you, and their salespeople are not aware of the bad gasoline issue...
Totally underwhelmed with TROY BUILT! They used to make good stuff. Now I see people returning these washers about every time I go to Lowe's. I see as many coming in the door as I see going out the door.
Going to buy different brand.
Every part that could be made plastic without shattering within the first hour of use has been made plastic. THIN plastic. Everything flexes and bends when you pull the starter. Which, by the way, is oriented in such a way that has you reach down underneath the handle to pull it, when it could be rotated in any other direction. The fuel tank is plastic and is held on to the plastic fan cage with plastic clips. The plastic gas cap is not sealed and will leak if tipped too far.
The first couple hours went smoothly, then the problems started. Handle is poorly molded and very uncomfortable to use. After an hour of use my thumb was chaffing. I use power equipment every day, and this is one of the worst handles I've seen. The gasket in the handle split apart, spraying water in all directions. The couplings at the pump leaked a small amount as well.
After 2 hours of use, the motor bogged down as if it were under heavy load and the wand pressure dropped. At first I thought I had low pressure in the garden hose, but it checked out fine. Then the motor died and would not restart. The compression increased sharply and it backfired. I found that the compression release system in the engine had failed, sticking the exhaust valve closed. I returned the unit and picked up a replacement.
The second unit had all the same issues, and failed in the same way. The second time I got my money back. I'm glad I did, seeing how every review for this washer is one star.
I am not biased. I own a Troy Bilt washer with a horizontal Briggs.Read more ›
