This thing feels like the drag racers of mowers! The power of this thing (420cc = ~13hp) is tremendous and the big rear drive wheels have no issue pushing this thing around the yard. As a matter of fact I rarely get out of 3rd gear because 4th is brisk walking speed! The two blades that come with it are decent enough for mulching IF you don't go past 2nd or 3rd gear. I'm sure once these are dinged up instead of sharpening them I'll find some Gator Blades to replace them with.
It comes with a 2 gallon gas tank, which I have more than half of gas left after doing 3/4 of an acre lawn and that was before I knew how to be more efficient with the mower. It is recommended to not use anything below E85 fuel and if you do use pump gas to put in some seafoam ethanol remover. My local BP has ethanol free gas, a bit more expensive, but it will help protect the engine. You CAN use synthetic oil, too, but it takes 10W-30 4-stroke oil.
The downsides are... the size. It is MASSIVE and does take some muscle (for me that's great, good workout!) but it isn't TOO hard to maneuver as the front wheels kind of make this a zero turn mower! The power of the motor can be felt through the handle bars, so after about 30 minutes of mowing you'll feel it! With time, though, I'm sure you won't even notice anymore.
The other downside is the noise. It's a lot louder than your standard 21" mower but it's not neighborhood disturbing any more than the other mowers going when others do their lawns.
The last downside is the price. I'm sure you can get a decent riding mower rather than this walk behind, but honestly these are way more efficient and controllable than riding mowers, especially if you don't just have a square or rectangle yard. With this it's a lot easier with different shaped yards as I have had a riding mower, too, and I'll take this over those any day for my yard!
Great mower. Can't recommend it enough if the weight and price are right for you!
