I cannot recommend this Tru Catch trap highly enough. I had been using the silver spring loaded traps that are made by another reputable company. The silver ones are a quality built product, but the LOUD spring-loaded design snaps shut hard enough to injure a kitten if it is caught in the doorway when the mother triggers the trip plate. The silver snap shut so loudly that it scares the cats in the colony. This really slows progress when one is attempting to mass trap. I also had a few larger cats escape those regularly enough to prevent me from being able to TNR a large tom who will not go near a trap now. A TNR expert in my area recommended the TruCatch trap and I was able to see her use it before I invested in it. The advantage of this trap is that it operates quietly and it won't injure a small animal. The quiet function makes it easier to deploy and fill multiple traps in a night. The variable trigger can be set to trip easily, or to require more weight to close. I only have two of these, but these are my favorite traps to work with. I have never had a feral escape when I'm working with these. The rear door is easy to operate and secure, which makes it ideal for baiting and for releasing the animal. If you purchase the trap cage dividers, it makes it possible to clean the trap safely without having contact with the animal or worrying about it escaping. (There are videos demonstrating how to do this safely.) The veterinarians I work with have told me this trap is easier for them to work with. If you are comparing both the silver colored traps and this one, this one is worth the investment.Read more ›

I bought a 30LTD trap last November but never had a chance to use it until two days ago. Compared to other traps, I couldn't believe how easy it was to set. Overall the design is clever, thoughtful and downright ingenious. The door doesn't come crashing down, which would further terrorize an already freaked out cat or kitten, and the back end also opens up for easy release into a carrier (or into the wild, if you caught something unexpected). Plus, it's very light and the coated wire hoses off clean. All of these features are things that make the TruCatch carrier infinitely better than all other small animal traps. BTW, this trap caught the stray cat we were looking for in less than 15 minutes.

I am a feral cat colony caretaker and we use these traps for the cats for spay/neuter and when they need vet care. They work wonderfully. We've had very cats few trip the trap and escape. The trip pad and mechanism to keep the door open work great, unlike some other traps I've tried. This is the only trap I'd purchase.

I have had previous experience with using another brand of "catch" trap as a shelter director and was always dismayed by the injuries suffered to the nose of the caught cats. This trap is terrific! The coated metal stops those injuries from happening. The trap is very easy to set, just be a little light fingered when doing it. After using the Trucatch trap I will not use another brand. It was purrrfect.

Carefully made; sturdy; long-lasting; easy to set up; makes Havaheart look like the junk it is. Those folks in South Dakota know how to make a trap

The wild cats are no longer escaping from this superb trap. The other American trap I had was poor design. I was biased for those traps because of the mouse trap I had for many years. That design with the swinging spring-loaded solid door may be ok for mice, but not for animals like cats. "American Made" was a major factor in this purchase, and I don't shop for price. My new Tru-Catch trap will outlast those others with less stress on the animals, and it is easier to use. I have the 36D and it is great. I put pieces of cardboard as floor lining in the trap so the cats don't step on the wire bottom and the wire trip plate, but that is good as the cardboard is easily repaced. Also, this trap only costs a little more than many of those others and is not an "Imported Clone." It is very much worth it. I feel I wasted my money for the other trap as I had to buy two traps basically. Remember the saying "The bitterness of low quality lasts much longer than the sweetness of low price."

Where I live, we do occasionally get to see feral cats. Decided I wanted to try and keep one. Went looking online for traps and cages. There sure seems to be plenty of them. Most of the reviews only rate them all as, basically, average. I have some friends that are feral cat colony keepers and they have the Tru-Catch Cage, trap and restraint carrier. They were kind enough to lend them to me to catch OC (the name I've given to the Orange Cat that roams the area). Let me tell you these pieces of trapping equipment are first rate, bar none. Solid, reliable and they do the job exceedingly well. Not exactly cheap but then I wasn't looking for something that was 'cheap'. I wanted something I could rely on and these are they. If I ever decide that I need to do any more trapping, I would purchase Tru-Catch for sure.
