This will probably get me kicked out of the card-making community (not really) but good quality construction paper is 9 x 12 and great colors. I figure most people who receive my cards with thrown them away or tuck them in a drawer or box, so they don't sit in the sun where they might, over time, fade. And I use them only as layers underneath the focal point, so at best there is .125 to .25 (1/8 to 1/4 inch) border showing.
The first use discovery I found was when I got the slimline card envelope maker and it needs larger paper than letter size. Construction paper and many drawing papers fit the bill at 9 x 12 inches. Makes beautiful color coordinated envelopes for cards.
I've purchased many colors and many envelopes and cards. Very pleased.
