This was an awesome book. I was hooked from the first page and didn't want to stop reading until it was finished. I loved the characters and their story. The book was full of mystery, suspense, and romance. I definitely recommend.
This story is not your usual second-chance tale! Everyone has secrets and will lie to keep them. There are many interesting characters and the storyline is complex, but fast moving. This is a sexy, feel-good, mysterious, heartwarming read!
But, now, he's back in town for his mother's funeral, and determined to get his one true love, Slade, back. Yeah...sure, she's his one true love but he's spent his 6 years away sleeping his way through the wh*res (yep, there's that word again) that litter the criminal (mafia) family he found his way into, and he doesn't care that Slade doesn't want him back. He spends far too little time groveling at Slade's feet, instead, he bulldozes his way into her life because he just knows Slade loves him, too, and hasn't gotten over him, regardless of the fact that the last time she saw him, he was sleeping with her friend, and he hasn't reached out to her at all since then. Yeah, he's a real prize, this one is!
Then there is the whole subplot of Slade's son, where he came from, who his father is, and what other secrets Slade is hiding. I actually like this subplot, because I like Slade, even though she's a little too indecisive with Slade (and FAR too forgiving). What I don't like is that there's another, interconnected, subplot of an MC association, not to mention the mafia association, in addition to the fact that Slade makes all kinds of discoveries about her blood line. Way, way too many things going on!
Ugh, my head is reeling thinking of all the things that happen in Truck Stop Tango. If it had been pared way back, and if Tango hadn't been such an a** hole, I might have rated it higher, but, unfortunately, I can't give it a higher review.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book through NetGalley.
Slade is fierce and protective and immediately has you guessing why she has such strong feelings of hate or disgust for the newly departed. Her attraction to Tango is gripping and she can't stand to be around him because she know she will be weak and give in so she pushes him away. These two have a tortured past that has left them both with deep scars.
I consider myself good at solving mysteries and thought I had this one figured out. However, this book had as many layers as an onion and just like that onion some were tasty, some were bitter and some made you weep. The relationships Slade had cultivated within her small group were precious to her and she kept that circle small for protection for her and her secrets- blocking everything else out. She is a strong, sassy and sexy woman who fiercely protects what is hers. How can she fight her attraction to Tango- if she lets him close enough he will discover her secrets and it - will- ALL- be over.
Tango knows she is lying- he can't figure out why. Why does she push him away? He has his own past and issues to work through while dealing with his family, but can't help digging into Slade's life.
While there was enough action, adventure and sex appeal to this book, the true scene stealer is a little boy by the name of Rocky James Mason! Absolutely adorable!
My first Krissy Daniels book and I am a fan! Cannot wait for Tucker's book!
