Top customer reviews
The only real complaint I have is that the "berry" isn't quite big enough, at least for some kinds of tea. It depends on how much tea you want in the infuser. If you're using a type that requires a full tablespoon, for instance, it's not going to work very well. On the other hand, the holes in the berry are small enough that there aren't a lot of extra tea leaves floating around in your mug.
I have yet to find the perfect infuser, but this is a nice one to use while I further the search.
That led me to this silicone infuser. Complaints about the color? Really? Guess what: it spends its time inside your mug of tea. The only way you see that color is out-of-focus, when you're eyes get an extreme-close-up of it as you take a gulp of tea. If orange/red/whatever is that offensive to you, then go with the metal, and enjoy that rust taste instead.
The reason I knock off a star is that, as some people say, the holes are slightly larger than is ideal. So if you're using cheaper powdery teas, then you'll have a problem. But my higher-end loose leaf green tea does just fine.
In terms of durability, this thing just can't be beat. I've been using mine every weekday at work for 2 1/2 years, and it is in the same condition as it was when I opened the Amazon box. However, I do wash it well each day, so I don't know how well it would do if you're lazy about cleaning.
Oh, and yeah, it isn't the most masculine of products. But I'm a dude, and I can handle it. If you're a guy who has a problem with something that looks a strawberry being dunked into your tea, then you need to work on your self-confidence, my friend.
I tried my infuser out and it was a flop, however the tea I used was finely ground. The small bits of tea floating in my drink rendered it undrinkable for me. I'm disappointed, but I should have known better from reading the reviews. I do not recommend this item as a tea infuser. Not only was the color I received enough to make a yak puke, but its functionality was far below my expectations. I do not see this working well for any kind of loose tea. It the strawberry itself was made of a wire mess, then it would be awesome. Sometimes silicone isn't always better. Very cute though. I guess I fell for the damned cuteness attack.
The BERRY TEA INFUSER is perfect for what I need it for. I received the yellow one and it goes great with the green stem.
It's easy to open and clean, and I can get a full teaspoon of tea leaves in it with more than enough room to allow the leaves to expand. You could probably get 2 to 2 1/2 teaspoons, maybe 3, depending on how big the tea is.
I also found that I can get almost three cups of tea, actually more like 5-6 because my cup is large and holds about 2 1/4 cups, with just the one teaspoon, but this will probably vary with different tea leaves.
The lid/saucer fits well on the lid of my cup, which is a large Campbell's Soup Mug, and provides the tea infuser a place to rest after brewing.
Packaging says that the infuser and lid/saucer is microwave and dishwasher safe.
I love it and it's so easy to use just fill it and dip it, like a commercial tea bag. There is a little tea debris that comes through the holes, but it's mostly dust in my case.
Now I can buy more green tea from the Japanese market and I can save money, since I don't have to buy a tea pot.
