That being said, I found the first few chapters to be very engaging and once used to the writing style, both interesting and compelling. As a Lutheran, I'm well steeped in "Grace not works" and yet I have a full Jamesian attitude about how we work out our faith through our obedience to God's will, not out of desire to earn salvation, but out of loving response to Christ. So... I was mostly compelled to agree with Bolton and he has a knack for turning a phrase, for example, "[we must] appeal to be made holy by Christ as well as to be made happy by Christ." Isn't that lovely?
Then... I got into the last 50 pages or so that for me were much more circular and capricious in their reasoning and repetitive in their nature. There were times in which I had to read and reread a sentence and simply applaud his ability to obfuscate and dilate meaning at the same time. But... what do you want from a 400 year old writing style?
Overall, I think well worth the time, even if you end up skimming some pages.
Kindle edition was formatted well, considering the age and price of the book.
