I read Kelley Paul's "True and Constant Friends" yesterday. Excellent book that I highly recommend. Kelley went to college at Rhode's College in Memphis as a freshman in 1981. Among the many people she met there, six have remained life long friends and the group has gotten together one weekend a year since. The book offers a brief essay about anchor women in the lives of each of these seven ladies. Kelley talks about her grandmother Julia who was an Irish immigrant and maid to the lady that owned Saks Fifth Avenue. Kelley introduces each of her six friends who in turn tell about their own mother, grandmother or in one case a nanny named Ruby. Kelley tells you the name of each friend and a little bio of each. However on the group photo at the beginning of Chapter One she does not identify the ladies' names with their photos. Let me do that for you: L to R Margaret, Brigid, Kathleen, Kelley, Blair, Meg, Savgi. At the end Kelley has a tribute to a great Bowling Green OB-GYN doctor that we lost at a young age, Dr. Kela Lyons Fee. Kelley goes to Tompkinsville and talks with Kela's mom about her. ( Kela beat out Gretchen Carlson for Miss Teen USA some years ago.) Kelley grew up in nearby Russellville but lived here in Bowling Green until her doctor husband got a job in Washington DC. You're gong to like this book a lot.
