Product Description

The new and improved newly designed TrueDepth DLP-Link 3D shutter glasses provide a high quality low cost solution for viewing 3D images, movies and games on all DLP Samsung or Mitsubishi 3D TVs (including legacy TVs!) as well as 3D projectors! No emitter is needed! These glasses feature a larger viewing area and a clearer image than other DLP LINK glasses on the market today. These come with a storage pouch and a cloth to clean the glasses. These glasses recharge easily via included USB cable! These glasses operate at 96hz, 100hz, 120hz, and 144hz making them ideal for any and all DLP 3D systems! The new and improved technology virtually eliminates sync issues and other problems found in other DLP link glasses. FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE REFER TO THE RESOURCES AVAILABLE FROM TRUE DEPTH 3D. True Depth 3D is a registered trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Please note that although these glasses work great with DLP 3D TVs, they may not work properly alongside of infrared glasses such as those found in the 3DC-1000 kit. Most TVs must use either infrared or DLP-LINK mode and cannot use both at the same time. Using both types of glasses simultaneously may work with some TV models, but is generally not recommended. For infrared systems, please see our True Depth 3D Samsung and Mitsubishi compatible glasses (infrared).

<< Intro >>

After a bit of research and reading reviews on Amazon, it wasn't clear to me which pair of glasses was the best. I ended up buying 3 different pairs of DLP 3D glasses that seemed to have the best ratings. With the SainSonics, I went with their newest at the time of this review, expecting improved performance over their other DLP glasses. Here is a list of equipment that I did my tests with... all glasses were tested under the same conditions.

1. SainSonic Zebra ZB-10
2. EStar America ESG601
3. True Depth 3D Firestorm XL
4. Elite 120" motorized screen
5. Optoma GT1080 HD short throw projector, 2800 lumens, ceiling mounted 6ft from screen
6. "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" 3D HD Movie

<< Info >> For those new to DLP 3D glasses...

You don't need an RF emitter to use these glasses. In fact, by buying these DLP glasses, you eliminate the need for a RF emitter, you save money, and you eliminate radio frequencies close to your head. However your TV or projector needs to have a "DLP Link" setting in the 3D Settings Menu. The "DLP Link" setting will allow the displaying device to insert flashes of light in between frames that your naked eye can't see but allows the glasses to sync to this signal to produce the 3D effect.

1. EStar ESG601 (winner) - Picture clarity viewing through the EStar is very noticeable compared to the other two competing glasses. I have noticed that there was greater contrast and richness of color that lends to the exceptional clarity when viewing through the EStar. Blacks would appear darker and the brights were bright. 3D worked great.

Very good quality DLP-Link glasses.
My favorites had been the Optoma ZD101 for picture quality.
There is a difference in picture quality between different pairs of 3D glasses.
Polarization rainbow effects (not to be confused with DLP color wheel rainbows), synchronization accuracy, and the tint of the optics make quite a difference.
These are slightly better than my Optomas. I have not noticed any polarization rainbows yet, where I would see some with the Optomas.
Their ability to keep sync without artifacts is better than my others.
There is no discernible tint effect- the apparent green tint of the LCD panels disappears once they are turned on.
Also these glasses excel at fully suppressing the DLP-Link flash, and as such you get great blacks.
This is especially good for the earliest Mitsubishi DLP 3d-Ready sets which had no option to disable the DLP link flash, and as such those older sets looked washed out when 3D mode was on and IR-shutter (non-DLP-Link) glasses were used. Great value for the $
These are not the smallest nor lightest on the market, but they are much better in that regard than my old Optomas. And, I deliberately chose a slightly bulkier glasses so that I would have larger viewing area of the lenses. The ultra lightweight models sacrifice here.
If you have a DLP-Link projector (Any 3D DLP rear projection or front projection system) these are perfect!

Purchased the Optoma HD 141x from amazon and waited to do research on some dlp link 3d glasses before just buying anything. Did my research on amazon of course. After reading reviews and looking at many dlp link 3d glasses, I've decided to purchase the True Depth 3D Firestorm XL. After putting Projector on 3D link mode, turning on the Allow 3D on the XBOX One, throwing a 3D blu ray disc in and finally, putting on the True Depth 3D glasses, All I could say was Wow!!! Best 3D experience I have ever witness! Can't believe I've been without these devices the past 5 years. For now on, I will always buy block busters movies in 3D! Hurry up and get here Planet Of The Apes on 3D blu ray! Thanks amazon for the great prices and customer reviews. Update as of 4/9/15...watched 5 3d movies with these glasses. Only one good experience...the other 4, the glasses kept syncing off throughout the movies. Had to switch to a different brand. Dont biy these if i were you. The glasses to get is, SainSonic SSZ...they're nice!!!!!!!!!!!

These glasses work great with the Benq W1070. Exceptional picture. I'm amazed every time I watch a 3d movie that it's in my living room.

Own for a month now, use with BenQ W1070
- syncs/works flawlessly out of the box - 3d effect is perfect
- build quality is decent/solid
- view coverage is very generous and it goes over regular glasses nicely, extra nose pieces are very useful
- don't notice much ambient reflection issues but I watch in a dark room,
- no significant tinting, no red at all, maybe a slight green,
- do notice some color shift/darkening if turning head and looking at screen at an angle but no one watches that way
- expensive but not ridiculous - about $33/glass when I bought

Works great with my Optoma HD37 (when the projector doesn't mysteriously set itself to VESA 3d mode). I haven't had them long so I can't really speak to longevity but I watched several hours of content last night with no issue and was amazed at the amount of detail made crystal clear by these glasses. I don't have much basis for comparison but I am not disappointed. The glasses are comfortable and did not make me sick at all.

My only 'gripe' is that the USB charger is proprietary instead of a standard micro-usb. In lieu of micro-usb I would prefer a wireless charging option, yes I would pay more for such a feature.
