This story is about two people who knew each other since elementary school. Fell in love in high school. Jag goes to college out of state and plays baseball for South Carolina while El finishes high school in Illinois. When she graduated, she goes to Northwestern. So they are trying to stay together while separated by several states. They haven't been intimate yet because Jag worries about the separation may tear them apart. El doesn't understand so she goes out one night and some photos are taken of her and another guy talking and dancing. Jag sees them and decides that she is his so he travels back home and claims what's his. So now they are "together." He goes back to South Carolina for a while and gets offered to play in the minors with a chance to go pro. He moves to Arizona and plays in the minors for a short time and gets signed on with the Dodgers. El is happy for him but has had enough of being separated from him and asked if she can go to L.A. with him. Of course he says yes. So she transfers to USC while he plays for the Dodgers. Well being young and full of himself, Jag gets the big head and let's people take advantage of him. It splits him and El up. She leaves and goes back to Illinois to finish her degree. It takes a while for Jag to see what it's like to be an adult because he was far from home with no one to lead him down the right path and see how he was being manipulated. Once he realizes that he can't trust everyone and he stops being so naive, he goes back to get his woman. It takes some time because El was hurt by him and she loved only him since elementary school but she has a hard time trusting him. So not to spoil it too much things work out eventually. Harper did a real good job in writing about the struggles of growing up and making decisions. Transitioning from child to adult is hard and throw in being a famous baseball star puts that much more pressure into the mix. But she showed how well they both matured and was able to have their HEA. Would recommend this series.
WOW what more can I say about this incredible story! I have not read this author before but oh boy will I now! Brilliant, funny, very insightful, entertaining and best of all a true CUBS fan! I love how El and Jags beautiful story spans out from being children and then discovering their true love! All of the other characters are well developed and loved how the author wove them throughout the story! This is a must read!
Ellen and Jagger have been friends since they were kids 5 & 7.... They're meant to be together, however fame happened to young Jagger.... Unfortunately he gets played by the oldest trick in the book for the famous... APPEARANCES!
Through it all they both struggled.... there was definitely life, love, heart break, a sneaky a** of an agent, a b**** of a super model and psycho with revenge on his mind.... All throughout 3 well written books.
All 3 books had fun times, laughter, love, friendships, family, hot sex, angst and of course the HEA
Ellen and Jagger were meant to be together, but life and fame happened. It is very true to life though. Very few men/women handle sudden fame and money well. The sports world is littered with broken relationships and hearts. Jagger really tried but he fell for the oldest trick in the trade, appearances.
Their struggles, break up, heart ache, the b..faced interloper, devilish agents spanned the three books. There was no dull moment though. I struggled with Ellen, cried with her, then got mad, then cried... Anyways, you got the drill. The ending really got me. That was awesome. Will read more books by this author.
I am blown away. This is an amazing trilogy. SO glad I decided to buy this set and stumbled on this talented author. I like sports genre and this is one of the best I've read. Very fortunate to be able to read the books one right after the other, without having to wait between books because the cliffhangers at the end of book one and two would have done me in. Great sarcastic humor, sweet young love, perfectly developed angst, a bitxx even I want to slap... just a perfectly written story. I'm seriously amazed at how much I enjoyed reading this trilogy. I'm ready to check out her other books pronto.
I love Harper Bentley books but the female h of this book got on my last nerves at one point I hoped the male would dump her 😤 I mean the first time she got jealous I understood but she kept doing dumb stuff even when she herself said she should have listened to him it was just too much for me!!! Overall a good read and passable enjoyable but the female needed less and more trust I mean this is someone you've known for over twenty years
Simple and sweet. I would recommend reading this but It did get frustrating at times with the characters repetitive actions and thoughts due to their age. You wanted them to snap out of the immaturity. Actually I was surprised the author has taught English for 22 years because she writes like a young person text messages. I don't know why she drops all of the "I"s at the beginning of sentences . Just starts them with verbs mostly. Like that, it should start with the word she. It was very distracting. Pretty steamy sex scenes.
What an awesome series. I was born in Chicago, so by reading this, made me feel like air was at home. This has so many emotions to the story. You'll laugh, cry and get pissed off. But, it's a really great story..... GO CUBBIES!!
