About the Author
From the runway to your personal closet, be it advice on the proper attire, or suggestions on how to live life to the fullest, readers throughout the world are being inspired by connecting to “So What to Twenty”, a style blog by creator, author, and freelance style contributor, Glenda K. Harrison, graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising with a degree in Marketing and Merchandising. Although fashion and style are important to her, Harrison's real passion is reminding others of the importance of self-love and using one's God-given gifts and talents. Her blog inspires readers to view fashion as an all-encompassing vehicle and encourages women to explore their personal gifts, style, power, and, most importantly, inner beauty. Harrison has been quoted saying, "I view my clothing as the cast of characters in my life, and together we tell the story of Glenda." The death of her mother spurred Harrison to launch A Daughter's Heart in 2008, a cancer support service that partnered with hospitals to provide love and support to women undergoing cancer treatment. She put aside that work to focus on her lifelong dream of touching lives through her writing and her passionate point of view on the subject of style. Harrison has authored an inspirational memoir titled, A Place Called Peace. She currently lives in Southern California with her husband and two sons.

While I am certainly not a fashionista or one who is obsessed with having the latest trends (or the Consumptionist as the author notes) I do enjoy looking good in what I wear and feeling comfortable. If your clothes "suit" you I think that your style shows through. This book applauds each way that an individual expresses their style and is written in such a down to earth way that I found myself finished with the book before I knew it.
Bottom line is that style is much more than the clothing that a person chooses to wear each and every day. Style embodies everything about that person and is a true indicator of who they are and what they stand for without the masks that are so often thrown up to disguise those truths. Author Glenda K. Harrison is a gifted writer and communicator and I came away with a better sense of where I fall on the spectrum and why.
I was gifted a copy of True Style: A Look Beyond the Surface for review purposes and am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to read a book that I probably would not have chosen on my own if I had not previously met the author. If you are curious about style and the different ways that style comes into play this is definitely a book you want to put on your to read list.
Another name for this book could be called TRUE STYLE A modern guide to the pursuit of true happiness. Bravo....... Loved it.....
I know Glenda through her blog and enjoyed her first book ( A Place Called Peace) so I had a good idea what to expect.
What a wonderful journey we go through when we read this book about how to be enlightened as to your true style, and what your style tendencies are. Glenda weaves an artful analysis for us on the true meaning of style.
Style is multi faceted, and bit bit like a foreign language. How fun to decode it with this insightful book. The illustrations, by Allison Taylor, were captivating and enriched the reading experience.
It turns out I am a true expressionist with some tendencies towards "consumptionist"...
Sounds fascinating, right!
