This True Temper warren hoe has a triangular head used to cultivate soil between plants and to create furrows for planting rows. The “ears” on the back of the head are designed to pull the soil back onto newly planted seeds. This hoe is also great for harvesting vegetables such as potatoes, celery, leeks and asparagus.

Customers have mixed opinions about the sturdiness of the hoe. Some mention it's well built and dependable, while others say that it fell apart after just 30 minutes of use. The head of the horser broke after two days of light gardening, and the handle snapped after using three times. The wood handle was cracked, making the metal part loose.
The metal head and wooden handle are adequate, but within a days use the metal interference rivet holding the head onto the shaft is apparently too lose. It wiggles as I'm using it now. It's usable for now, but I will probably have to take out the rivet and put in a threaded screw to keep it from moving. The play is about 1/8". It's annoying, but usable. It's black rather than red as shown in the photo.
This made in china hoe broke with normal use. Unfortunately, I bought it last year,so I can't return it, and never used it until a few days ago while preparing my garden. I was just hoeing in loose soil, taking out weeds, when the whole end came off the hoe. See my picture above. The wood handle was cracked, which made the metal part loose, so it fell off. I have had problems with all of the "Ames true temper" products. I also bought a straight hoe, which bent during normal use. "true temper" not at all. If the blades were really tempered, they would not bend.
My Dad had tools like this that lasted his whole life. Now if you want a quality tool, you have to spend a fortune. I can't justify spending $60 for a hoe. Ames and Amazon, shame on you for selling this junk!
