Build quality: All three vacuums are fine but there are fewer plastic parts on the Shark Rocket. Never again do I want to drag a canister around.
Ease of Use: Hands down, the lightweight Shark Rocket has superior maneuverability and is the vacuum you want when you want to do a "grab and go" cleaning job. It was a wise ergonomic move to place the bagless dust bowl at the top of the unit so that there is nothing to impede motion under couches, beds, etc.
Suction Power: All three are fine on our hardwood floors but the Shark Rocket wins hands down on carpet. This view is also shared by my wife.
Closet Space: By a far measure, the Shark Rocket takes up less space.
Attachments: Hands down, the Shark Rocket has an animal attachment that sucks hair and other sticky things from the area rugs.
If you're looking for a lightweight vacuum at a reasonable price and don't want to sacrifice suction power, I give the Shark Rocket the highest recommendation
I did a lot of research. I was torn between this and a Dyson Ball. In the end, it was the weight that was my deciding factor, because we have a three story house, which means I was going to be carrying it up and down a lot of stairs. We have carpet upstairs and in the basement. The main level is bamboo/hardwood. This vacuum works amazingly well on both, but it is nothing short of a miracle on carpet. My husband, who doesn't notice much of anything, could actually tell, simply by walking on it, that the carpet felt "fluffier".
Because it's so light, it makes everything pretty easy to clean. I have ditched the dust wand and use the dusting attachment on all the furniture. Above floor cleaning is a breeze. I do my ceiling fans and the tops of picture frames once a month. I now clean the baseboards and vents every single time I vacuum, because it's just that easy. This thing has pretty much eliminated the need for a deep Spring Cleaning, because it makes simply keeping it clean as you go a snap.
If all of that is not convincing enough, take a look at this picture. It's actually kind of embarrassing to share, but it certainly proves my point. I just now vacuumed this out of our couch. In our household we have one dog, two adults, and two kids. This couch basically brand new. We bought it when we moved into our new house, only FOUR MONTHS ago. Until now, I had been vacuuming it DAILY with a handheld Dirt Devil Dustbuster. If this picture doesn't convince you, nothing will!
I have a heavy, very cumbersome, not so maneuverable, unbalanced upright and very bad back & neck issues..its' suction is great, could pull your face off and never had a vacuum clean carpeting better. However, I have little to no carpeting; just a 10x10 area covered with a king size bed thus leaving only each side and under the bed to vacuum and lugging the big beast around took its' toll. And since my under-the-bed go-to robotic device died, I shudder to even look under that bed.
So I began vacuuming as seldom as possible as it took a week to recuperate not to mention that the "beast" could get no more than 2 inches near or underneath anything.
My surfaces are etched concrete (much like ceramic tile), laminate & wood floors along with two German Shepherds AKA German Shedders.
I wanted a vacuum that I could physically use daily and without dread, on both the floors and furniture.
While I have no drapes or intention of lifting the hand-held above my head, I was concerned about the reviews stating that the HV322 was top heavy, a flaw I find to be punishing when used every day. I decided if that were the case I would just return it and took a chance. After pushing a floor model around the store floor for a bit I found it was, indeed, top heavy but wore more on the shoulder than the back. If you're young and/or a gym rat, raising it above will likely not be problematic. Otherwise, try changing hands periodically.
Assembly was a snap..literally. The wall mount for storing comes with the requisite mollies for dry wall as well as a template. Emptying the dust bin is also easy as, unlike its' predecessor the HV0302, it is removable so no need to lug the unit or handheld over to the trash. The filters are readily accessible.
The main head (there are 3 total) has two speeds, one for bare or more delicate floors which slows the brush down. Speed 2 is for carpeting and you'd better hold on because it becomes self propelled in that mode. The other head (hard floor Genie) has no brush and can be used for cleaning wood and laminate floors. The 3rd is the motorized pet brush.
The initial test was on laminate & etched concrete. ..the dust bunnies disappeared effortlessly with no going over needed. But this was the clincher for me: besides copious amounts of doggie undercoat, there's hair and lots of it. I hesitate washing most dog bed covers because it's cheaper to replace the vacuum than the washer which can take only so much of that stuff.
So sans optimism, I lifted this lightweight (using main head w/brush on speed #1) and ran it over the dogs beds; Voila! And it didn't even try to chew up the softer squishier bed. It's a keeper.
I have not tried the pet motorized brush on furniture yet but based on what I've read, I expect similar results. Bottom line, this Shark is doing what it was bred to do and short of paying someone to vacuum every day, it has solved my particular challenges.'
Designing a lightweight stick vacuum with great versatility and performance and at this price point, has to have some trade offs; the head is not very wide thus covering less space, however, this also makes getting in between and under furniture a lot easier and without having to move stuff around.
The only trade off I feel could have been addressed with more effort is the HV322's inability to stand on its' own, the direct result of the weight of the motor on the top. Some other stick vacs provide a small plastic stand in which their units fit securely. I would have preferred even that rather than worrying about the motor crashing to the ceramic floors.
I don't have a lot of carpeting but if you have just 2 or 3 rooms of it, this can be your only vacuum. A whole house of wall to wall will probably require frequent emptying.
I'm eager to try the handheld to conquer dog hair in my vehicle which previously necessitated dragging out the humongous shop vac...I can't wait.
