The storyline dragged painfully along. It was dreadfully slow. I couldn't wait to finish it and, in the end I didn't bother. I gave up at 71 per cent when it turned into erotica, complete with VERY EXPLICIT sexual descriptions. I'm no prude, I read erotica too, but I don't believe it's necessary in this type of story. Buyers should be informed when graphic sex is included in a book. And what's with all the breaks/separators, in the middle of the scenes? This is my second book I have read by Mandy Baggot and I have to say there is something about her writing that just makes you happy. She crafts her characters so perfectly and her words flows so well, but mostly it is the light humor that she writes in her books that I enjoy.

I liked Ellen I felt she was true to character and I have always been a fan of the gorgeous silent type like Yan, although, I do enjoy a strong alpha male at times. This story was truly a love story between two people that I felt were meant for each other.

I was thoroughly entertained, like in a movie, by the twists and turns of the plot. Ms. Baggot's development of the characters had me feeling various emotions towards them. To me, it seems like a job well done when I feel something about the characters. I loved the setting and wished I could have been there with the characters. The author has obviously spent time in the location she chose for the setting of the story. The local detail added to the credibility and made me feel as if I were there. I enjoyed reading this book.

With this book you get to see a beautiful Greek inland, learn that men and women are beautiful works of art inside and out. But still find that some are self-serving, that they are all that matter in their minds.

I wanted to like this book as much as the many others that did, but I found it slow, sometimes boring, and predictable. This is the first book I've read by this author, and really wanted a book that would make me not want to stop reading. I did finish reading it, but it wasn't easy. It just wasn't for me.

The two main characters are a little annoying at first, but as the story goes along, there is great character development. Yan's back story is very interesting, and the budding romance between him and the main character is sexy and sweet. The sex scenes are very tastefully done, full of passion but don't leave you feeling dirty after reading it. Highly recommend this book.

Truly, Madly, Greekly, Mandy Baggot
Genre:   Romance, Women's fiction
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews.
I adore Mandy's books, and by coincidence have just finished rereading the fabulous Excess All Areas. I was really looking forward to this one, back on the wonderful Greek Islands, sun, sand, sex – all the elements for a great read. Sadly though this one just didn't work for me, the first of Mandy's novels that I've read that I didn't fall in love with.
So, what went wrong for me? Well Ellen, for a serious character who runs her life by a Plan she made a stupid mistake, and I didn't feel that her character would have done that. I liked her as a person, its just the actions didn't fit the character I saw. Lacey, her sister, was a real irritation, selfish, self absorbed and spoiled – you can tell I didn't like her can't you ;-) though right at the very end she did redeem herself. I liked the entertainment gang, especially Dasha, he was a treat! Yan seemed a nice guy, but not the hero type I've come to expect, kind of an understated man. He was solid at the end, but I didn't feel that connection between him and Ellen, that magical sizzle that I need if I'm to believe they're in love after a week....
The secrets too...just didn't ring true for me, and I just felt they were a bit OTT. Still, as always that's just me. This is a good read, a fun, well written romance, but it's not the five star one I've come to expect from Mandy now – she's set the bar high, and of course not every book will make it for every reader. Though this one doesn't for me I'm sure it will for many others.
Stars: Three, an OK read only for me.

Mandy Baggot is a new author to us at the Literary Week offices, and so when we were presented with a copy of her latest book ‘Truly, Madly, Greekly’ to review we were eager to start reading. The timing of this release could not have been better, particularly as a number of the people we talked to have made reference to how this story got them “in the mood for the summer.” The story is well written, although somewhat typical of the genre, and is an easy read from start to finish. The characters are all generally likeable and well developed, and give some substance to the more serious aspects of the story. The book keeps you wanting to turn page after page, and features enough twists and turns to keep the reader interested. Our main criticism is that there are parts of the book that could be considered slightly far fetched and over the top – BUT because of the high quality in almost every other area we’re able to forgive the slightly OTT moments! ‘Truly, Madly, Greekly’ is a book well deserving of a read this summer, perfect to take on that summer vacation!
