Truly and Roch met when she was 8 years old and she instantly bonded with him. Now over a decade later he's still the one Truly's mom will call when she gets caught up in trouble. Truly is doing it to get his attention but she has no idea he's harboring his own feelings he's not willing to act on. He wants to keep Truly and her mom as far away from the club and the dangerous life he leads but when those two worlds collide they will be finally be forced to confront their feelings or walk away forever.
I loved Truly! She was so sweet and naïve at times but when it mattered she could be tough. I loved watching her interact with the other MC characters as well as Birdie. There were a few times I just wanted to reach into the book and shake her because I disliked her decisions but she was coming from a good place so I couldn't stay mad. Roch was everything I wanted and so much more! He was this dark and twisty character that wanted to keep the people he loved safe. Being in his head, reading his thoughts and getting his back story broke my heart. He closed himself off from everyone when he returned home from his service except for this sweet little girl that grabbed his hand and forced him to get out of his comfort zone.
The plot of this story was fantastic and I devoured it in one sitting! There's edge of your seat action, great dialogue, likable characters, plenty of steam, plus she sets up the next book in her series and another author's RBC series. I'm so excited to see what Misty Walker comes out with next!
I definitely recommend this book but I would recommend reading Birdie's Biker first just so you get the full background on the club!
*I received an advanced copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review but I also preordered my own copy before that. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*
Since this is the second book in the series, we’ve already met Will and know just enough about him to get us salivating for his book. That’s the way it was for me and his story did not disappoint! Will has not had it easy. Life has not been his BFF. He’s holding a whole lot of remorse for circumstances in his past and it is heartbreaking.
Truly was the perfect young person, in my opinion. I really liked the choices that Misty made with her personality. They fit her not just because of her age but also because of her upbringing and circumstance. There may be times when she comes across as childish or maybe immature, but those times are few and they actually fit perfectly.
Truly has been Will’s saving grace since he could remember. Will couldn’t save her father so he’ll be damned if he won’t burn down the world to save Truly. That’s their story in a nutshell with exceptional chemistry, winding twist and turns and a whole heap of hope.
My favorite part of a Misty story is how real they are. She is always respectful of the subject and never hides the dark edges of life and or society. Her characters may not always be relatable to everyone reading, but they most definitely are realistic. She writes the good, the bad and everything in between of life and people. If you’re not reading her words …. *side-eye*
Roch meets Truly when she is eight years old and he is giving her mother a note from his father who died in Afghanistan. That first meeting has lead to him protecting Truly and her mother making sure everything is okay for them. Then Truly grows up and she sees Roch in a different way and wants him but he is having none of it. She is his best friends daughter and so much younger than him but he can't deny that he is starting to see her as more.
What will Roch do? Will he cave in and give into his desires or will he deny himself and keep his distance?
