About the Author

Anthony Scaramucci is an American financier, entrepreneur and political figure. He is the founder and co-managing partner of SkyBridge Capital, a global alternative investments firm.

As part of the first generation of his family to attend college, Scaramucci graduated from the Tufts University and Harvard Law School before embarking on a successful career in the financial services industry. In November 2016, Scaramucci was named to President-Elect Trump's Presdential Transition Team Executive Committee. In June 2017, he was named the Chief Strategy Officer of the Export-Import Bank. He served as the White House Communications Director for eleven days in July 2017.

In 2016, Scaramucci was ranked #85 in Worth Magazine's Power 100: The Most Powerful People in Global Finance. In 2011, he received Ernst & Young's "Entrepreneur of the Year-New York" Award in the Financial Services category. He is a member of the Committee on Foreign Relations (CFR).

Scaramucci was born and raised on Long Island, New York, where he still resides today.

Interesting read and insight

Anthony’s book is interesting and has nice insights into President Trump. I did have a hard time understanding why he was trying to review his personal history and seemingly tying it to Trump’s. I guess he showed he had similar blue collar chops and experiences compared to Trump. He is a good writer, very clear and succinct. His media interviews with NPR and Media Buzz prompted me to buy his book because they were so different from the narrative I had in my mind surrounding the cause of his firing from the White House (i.e. the New Yorker interview). He offers some great vignettes about Trump, and I found the intentionality and strategy of Trump’s statements and tweets reassuring. I think of Trump as being more strategic than unraveled and impulsive after reading this book. It is an informative insiders objective view of the Trump Administration.

Readable but not convincing

Having seen Scaramucci talking to Bill Maher, and wondering what it was that he was trying to say, but never had the chance to, I was hoping that this book would allow me to fill in the blanks. While the book is an easy read, and an interesting telling of his life story it sadly does not ring true with regard to his impressions of Trump and the Whitehouse.

I have really tried to use the exposition of his experiences to re-evaluate my opinion of the Trump administration, but try as I may, I can't get past Scaramucci's complete disregard of the lies told by Trump and his admiration for those supporting the lies. If he is prepared to obfuscate on this, something that one has seen and heard for oneself, then how much reliance can one place on his observations about the good deeds and work ethic of Trump?

Worth a read, but less than convincing. I was left with the impression that i had read a well crafted piece of propaganda.

Scaramucci, Contradictions Galore, Shares His Insights Into Donald J. Trump....

I read a quote recently in which Texas Senator Ted Cruz is advising Trump to not ignore Beto O’Rourke if the rock star chooses to run against Trump in 2020. Better that democrats listen to those folks who side with Trump so they can better represent their needs when they do win in 2020. Just as no child should be left behind, no American should be left behind. Let’s get them all aboard our bus.

Normally, a review would not include the above quote. These, though, are not normal times. The America of 2050 will largely be determined by the election in 2020.

This writer is one of the more interesting insiders to have spoken in behalf of Donald Trump. Certainly, he has a certain charisma. Mind you, his politics is most vociferously in opposition to my own. But, hey, that’s true with a large percentage of my friends. Possibly the sparks that arise while I am debating issues with my friends is why we are friends. Still, this review is posted to show what I liked and did not like about the writing and editing of this book – not based on his or my politics, but based on whether or not I enjoyed reading his thoughts and experiences.

One disappointment, for me, was Scaramucci’s audacity to tell us of his Catholic persuasion, but of the “lasped variety…” Here is the passage:

‘…Now, I’m a Catholic, though of the lapsed variety, and even though I don’t go to mass much anymore, I hold my Catholic values close and try to live my life by them as much as possible. Thank God (literally) that we Catholics have something called confession. The Handi Wipe of sacraments, confession allows us a clean slate even, for instance, after using the most vulgar language. Given that, you might think I would have sided with Francis against Donald Trump. I didn’t. Like many Catholics, Protestants, and those of many religions from around the world, I found the pope’s remarks disappointing.

In so many words, Francis had said that Mr. Trump was not a Christian for trying to build a Mexican border wall. It seemed out of character for a pope to judge what is the most personal of matters—one’s faith. And that doesn’t even broach the subject of the hypocrisy of the remarks. You don’t think the pontiff was hypocritical? Well, buy a plane ticket to Rome, then take a cab to the gates of Vatican City, and grab one of those big brass knockers. When the holy pontiff (or his valet) opens the door, ask him if he would mind if you stayed for… like the rest of your life. See what he says. I know, I know. The analogy is faulty. The detrimental result of illegal immigration, however, is pretty solid. As the great economist Milton Friedman once put it, you can’t have a welfare state without secure borders. In other words, you can’t help those less fortunate unless you curb immigration. Otherwise, you’ll have people from all over the world rushing in to take advantage of the resources you’re offering, and you’ll actually lose the ability to care for the citizens you set out to protect in the first place. People make the issue of immigration seem hopelessly complicated, and on a human level it certainly can be; but at root, it really isn’t…’

My point, also as a Catholic, but not of the ‘lapsed variety,’ I find Scaramucci disappointing for taking aim at Pope Francis for his comment. Sure, disagreement is understandable, but to assail the Pope while claiming to be Catholic irritates me. Perhaps it was because I understood what the Pope was trying to communicate.

When I read this writer’s pronouncements, or listen to him read them through Audible, I am struck by just how real understanding of political issues this man has. To be sure, he DOES understand and communicate well with the average joe. If winning the presidency is the ONLY consideration, I would tip my hat to Scaramucci and Trump. They absolutely do a great job corralling their base and communicating with them. That means also they do listen to them.

However, if one takes the time to read Scaramucci’s words and think through his positions, I am convinced many will come to my side of the aisle. Having stated that, though, does not mean the democrats will win in 2020. Say what?

I could pontificate on 2020 but that would not be a review of this book. If you are a Trump supporter, I’m betting you will love this book. More importantly, though, if you are a fence-sitter or an opponent of Trump, you definitely NEED to read this book. To ignore Scaramucci’s pontifications could prove to be a huge error.

BLUSH FACTOR: Surprisingly, there are few profanities in this book. Only one eff-word.

BOTTOM LINE

Four stars out of five.

This is a really good book. My only demerit that I took away one star, is that the book is really about the Mooch. I don't have a problem with that in general, but I am on the Trump train and have a load of Trump books I want to get through. This book interrupted my streak, now I feel like I am a book behind. But yes, the Trump sections were awesome. I was glued.
Would I have read this book knowing it was really an autobiography? Yes, I would have just read it later on. It is a very good book with great insight into certain political avenues, as well as some history of certain events that I understand better now just from reading this book... Good chance I'll read it again too.
Personally, I think the Mooch is a man of intelligence and integrity, so I wanted to read this, and I'm glad I did. I don't read gossip, fiction, or fake news authors, so I feel I got my fix here with some real information and knowledge, and I learned things from his experiences.
Moooch... great book, Your personal experiences hit me with a punch. Thank you! It's just that you should have gone with your first instinct on your original title idea, and it's meaning..

This book is about The Mouch exercising his ego talking about the Mouch. Lacks insight except that his entire approach to life and his thought process are almost inadvertently revealed. I had thought he might bring a unique or helpful approach to understanding Trump. There are some helpful insights but very few. Not worth the money or the effort. Sorry Mouch.

I bought this book because I liked what Mr. Scaramucci had to say about Mr. Trumps marketing and brand development on the morning talk shows. The good parts of the book are about Mr. Scaramucci's life and career - quite interesting and I think people could gain some inspiration from his story. Unfortunately, there is a lot of fawning towards Mr. Trump with a lot of skipping over Mr. Trumps misstatements, miscues and insults. Mr. Trump comes across as an omnipotent, benevolent genius who has planned out every move, every statement and every tweet like Alexander on the battlefield.

Mr. Trump and his sycophants (several of whom write glowing recommendations for the dust jacket) will love this book.
