the handle is attached way off from the direction of the fork part of this tool!!! a defect so obvious, how this got past any quality control ..... what were they thinking! now I need to waste more time to get it wrapped up again and get it sent back.

I have had this for over a year and use it for at least 5-10 hours a week during spring, summer and fall. UPDATE--Bought on 12/10/2015 w/4 star but today the fork broke off in light soil I "punch" holes for ironite around Sago palms in my front and back yards. I have used this product for years and not had problems. I hope I just bought a runt in the litter but very disappointed how easy the brake happened since rarely used in winter.

I bought my first Truper spading fork some 10 plus years ago. I use the heavy duty forks to "open up" my front beds and back yard flower beds in spring. In early summer I use the forks to spear deep holes around drip line of my trees; azaleas; jasmine and my 40 year old sago's planted around my home to place ironite and small amounts of fertilizer. This way is much cheaper than buying the fertilizer blocks sold for the same purpose and use a smaller amount several times a year.
The Truper tough handle is great when rain quickly falls and I forgot where propped up the the spading fork. The top handle does make a great perch for the birds and those pesky furry tail tree rodents when I do forget in the yard when I come in for a rest.

Also, the price is good vs. the big box home and outdoor retailers. Now if I can get my 2 cf garden mulch-------

I found a chunky splinter sticking out where the wood handle was forced into the metal shank, which, over time would have been problematic (I shaved off with utility knife). And the forks are flat rather than spiked. But I needed this right away, so I am making due and getting used to the tool. Over priced with a need for better quality control.

One tong broke off the first time I used the fork. I continued to use the tool due to need. Within an hour I was down to two tongs. I would recommend spending an extra $10 for a stainless steel product if you have any kind of dried-out or hard soil issues. This fork might work to turn soft compost, but that's about it.

I'm pretty happy with this spading fork. It bent a little bit the first time I used it but we were able to straighten it back out. I was thinning out daylilies and when I tried to dig up a clump of them, there was a tree root in the way and the fork caught on it and I pried a little too hard. I'm going to have to be more careful because this is a medium duty fork, not a heavy duty one. I sure hope it doesn't bend easier now.

Aufgrund der guten Rezensionen gekauft. Daher bin ich dann doch etwas enttäuscht. Das Produkt wurde staubig geliefert. Es ist nicht wirklich massiv, wirkt wie gestanztes Blech, aber trotzdem stabile. Vorher hatte ich eine Grabforke aus Edelstahl mit tiefeingelassenem Holzstiel. Nach dieser Enttäuschung hat die alte Forke einen neuen Stiel bekommen und wird nur noch im Schuppen gelagert. Dieses einfache Teil steht nun griffbereit draußen und hat bis jetzt keinen Schaden genommen. Dafür hat sie die drei Sterne auch wirklich verdient.
Trotz der Enttäuschung kann ich das Produkt empfehlen.

Das Teil macht einen recht bulligen Eindruck und durch den relativ kurzen Stiel ist sie für vielerlei Dinge genau richtig und auch richtig gut. Der D Griff macht das Arbeiten noch deutlich komfortabler. So bis zum Gewicht eines kleinen Heu- oder Strohballens sollte man damit normalerweise keine Probleme bekommen - normalerweise, wenn der Stiel in Ordnung ist, was bei meiner nicht ganz der Fall ist. Auslaufende Jahressringe (siehe Foto), ärgerlich aber da sie einem einfachen Belastungstest (Schwachstelle über eine Kante gelegt und dann an beiden Enden mit den Armen aufgestützt) standgehalten hat, verzichte ich mal auf eine Rücksendung und lasse es drauf ankommen, vermutlich würden sich eher die Zinken verbiegen, als der Stiel brechen.

Was die Verbindung der Gabel mit dem Stiel angeht kann man nur mutmaßen. Ich würde mal sagen, daß sie ausreichend fest, aber keine Standardausführung ist, man kann es aufgrund der an sich recht sinnvollen Metallhülse einfach nicht erkennen. Ein Tausch des Stiels dürfte wohl nur mit Problemen oder überhaupt nicht zu machen sein. Einen Punkt Abzug gibt es sowohl für den fiesen Aufkleber, der beim Arbeiten stört, wenn die Handschuhe nur etwas feucht sind, dafür aber extrem hartnäckig anhaftet, als auch für den Stiel - ich nenne sowas Brennholz! Insgesamt bin ich jedoch zufrieden...bisher.
