Though fifteen-year-old Harper St. Claire has an extremely wealthy father, there is little emotional connection with him and the constant parade of stepmothers and their children. She thinks his new wife and her son will not last long either, and she plans to pay no attention to Christopher Bardot, but she soon realizes he is not like any of her other stepsiblings. When his actions keep Harper from enduring a very bad situation, a bond is formed, one which surprisingly continues even when her father’s latest marriage fails.
There was an almost magical quality to the scenes in TRUST FUND, as I was drawn deeper and deeper into the lives of Christopher and Harper with each new situation that they shared. Every time they came in contact with one another, something personal was divulged through their behavior, and what I learned made them more appealing and wanting to know even more. Skye Warren has created an imaginative background for Harper and Christopher, and the next episode in their complicated lives is highly anticipated.
From her friendship with Avery in The Pawn, we met her best friend, Harper, and Harper’s step-brother, Christopher. We were tantalized with enough bits and pieces of their odd relationship to whet our appetite and find out more, and Trust Fund certainly delivers.
Beginning at the start of their relationship, we witness the meeting between Harper and Christopher and see the trust build between these two as they both realize how wrong their perception of one another can be. Actions that seem obvious on the surface reveal deeper motives and both show that, despite appearances, there is more than meets the eye.
Picking up this story, I would have known it was Skye Warren’s writing even without her name on the cover. Like Harper, she can craft a work of art that commands attention and shines in its intensity. Her stories effortlessly tell a tale of betrayal, sacrifice and love that is always magnificent, and based on the start we see in Trust Fund, I have no doubt that Survival of the Richest will be a fantastic story that can’t be put down.
