Trust Your Senses: Embodied Wisdom for the Modern Age Paperback – November 14, 2016
|New from||Used from|
"For as long as I've known Deb Lange she has aspired to bring all of herself - body, mind and spirit - to everything she has done. She has, in addition, learned how to help others to do the same. With her assistance, people learn to tune in to their instincts. In applying this learning Deb has designed and facilitated engaging activities: activities that involved participants wholly. At such work, I regard her as one of the most skilled practitioners I know. In addition I have found her a person of decency and integrity. This shows through in the work she does. Now, she has captured her wisdom and experience in this book. She has made her wisdom and experience available to the rest of us in the form of practical activities. This is a timely gift, I believe, very relevant to the world we currently inhabit. And even more relevant to the future world I think we face." Bob Dick, Independent Scholar and Retired Professor "Deb brings new insights into how to tune into our physicality, like learning a new inner language that is there to guide us. When we lean in to our senses and find our inner authority we develop a renewed appreciation of ourselves and our "joie de livre." This in turn a ects the appreciation we have with one another and beauty in life. I recommend this book to anyone searching for answers, as this book, does not tell you the answers but, rather helps you discover your answers for yourself." Miha Pognacik, Global Visionary, Speaker and Violinist "I had a great opportunity of being personally coached by Deb, and with her guidance, my life turned completely 180 degrees! From feeling small to feeling empowered, from not having a voice to knowing WHEN and HOW to speak up greatly improved my relationships - with myself, with my family, with my spouse and with my coworkers, to the point that I rose from being a tired, overworked employee to being hailed as the best in my company to now following my dreams of being a writer and speaker. By having this book in your hand, is like being coached by her! Be ready to have all the cells in your body and your life be transformed!" Van Bradshaw, Author and Speaker

This book invites us on a journey to explore the worn out behavioral patterns that no longer serve us. It encourages a shift in perception to integrate a new way of thinking... A shift that can only occur as a result of your active participation in the process.
Deb Lange is a wonderful facilitator, walking alongside you through the pages of her book. She inspires you to take on the challenge of your own darkness...guiding you by candlelight through the darkest corners of your mind so that you may move more freely into the realms of happiness and whole bodied health. You will emerge with a better understanding of yourself and a deepened compassion for the nature of all living things...There is a light at the end of this tunnel.
Deb Lange’s way of completing this scene leaves no stone unturned. There are many outcomes from getting your child back safely, but only one that doesn’t add to the potential confusion for your child.
Deb reminds us that we NEED to heal from trauma, from insult, from so much that life hits us with. This is not just ‘mindfulness’, but the rationale behind it and the way forward to commit to it as a natural habit, put in her gentle and reasonable fashion that - certainly makes me slap my forehead…why didn’t someone say this before? She goes further to the nub of the matter: consequences. This is something we may have already realized (if you’re past 25, say!), but very rarely know how to address. For those age 50+ like me, it fairly obvious what years of stress and damage can do to our bodies. But Ms. Lange reminds me those are mere scratches in light of my psychological damage. It’s going to take me time to truly understand the paths she’s showing me – the way out of the darkness and into the light – I’m going to savor it!!
And there’s so much more…….
This book is a trustworthy companion for a journey to come to your senses!
It is written in three sections, each being treated as a Rite of Passage.
The first prepares one thoroughly for the opening up of oneself by outlining the nine phases involved. These help one to become aware of one’s Achilles heal and to access the intention behind the choices one makes. Learning about one’s own body’s language is helpful when making decisions (yes, no or maybe).
The second Rite of Passage looked at one’s instincts and how to foster them by noticing one’s body data and building on what one senses throughout the events of one’s life. I found Deb’s outline of the Principles involved in the exploration of intense feelings to be sound and they have led to creative outcomes in my own experience.
The third Rite of Passage involved an exploration of one’s navigation guides. I had a lot of fun getting to know my inner crew and they have enriched my perception and helped to build the awareness of my intuitive sense of self.
I treated myself to 12 mentoring sessions with Deb being at a cross road in my life. I am now able to clearly articulate my purpose in life having retired and feel free to create the future that excites me. I also feel rejuvenated having stilled my mind and nurtured my emotions and body.
I highly recommend both Deb’s book and her skillfulness as a mentor.

I’ve been waiting for ages for such a stimulating book on our senses and our innate capacities as Deb Lange’s “Trust Your Senses.”
It’s all about unleashing the extraordinary instincts, capacities and wisdom that we all have within our grasp. Sadly, many of these have been drummed out of us by the control-based approach of western culture, with an associated over-reliance on the classical sciences, logical thinking and the mechanical worldview that still pervades.
Yet, we are capable of so much more, as is continually stressed by Deb, throughout the book. As she states on page 64 of my copy of her book:
“We are in interconnected system of thoughts, feelings, senses and energy, interacting with the environment and other people’s thoughts, feelings, senses and energy.” Deb has managed to bring this sentiment to life in a refreshing and intriguing way.
It’s always difficult presenting such stimulating content in the linear confines of a traditional book but Deb has creatively illustrated the book and offered a continuing series of exercises to encourage the reader to be curious and to dig deeply within, in a way that is informative, interesting and satisfying.
My only suggestion is for a less-linear edition of her work that will additionally enliven the potent connections that are to be found in “Trust Your Senses.” This could further open the fractal-like opportunities that Deb has introduced.
The sky is literally the limit for this exciting work. For those with the foresight to engage in the pathway that Deb outlines, the journey will be ongoing and should be truly transformational.
