Editorial Reviews

Praise for Trusting God

“Reading this devotional feels like you’re chatting with your best girlfriends over lunch! These women make you feel like they know you—that they know what it feels like to be you. I love the variety and short length of each daily entry—you can read one in the time it takes to finish your morning coffee! Practical, sweet, and inspiring, Trusting God will help you do just that. And by the last page, you too will have some new girlfriends—Mary, Gwen, and Sharon!”
—Jennifer Rothschild, author of Self Talk, Soul Talk and Lessons I Learned in the Dark

“Girlfriends in God—Gwen, Sharon, and Mary—are some of the wisest women I know. My friends make trusting God seem simple, possible, and attainable. A girlfriend is someone who watches out for you, encourages you, and provides opportunity for you—and that is exactly what you will experience from these Girlfriends in God. If your life is feeling unstable, unsure, unreliable, or the path feels unknown, Trusting God will keep you under God’s umbrella of
tender-loving care.”
—Pam Farrel, relationship specialist, international speaker, author of best-selling Men Are Like Waffles, Women Are Like Spaghetti and The 10 Best Decisions a Woman Can Make

Trusting God in this world of uncertainty and economic upheaval isn’t easy. We all need to learn, relearn, or be reminded daily of the truth that God can be trusted for each day’s problems. True to their real and relatable style, this wonderful Girlfriends in God devotional is just what you need to encourage your heart and refresh your spirit.”
—Georgia Shaffer, licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and author of Taking Out Your Emotional Trash

From the Author

I am so excited about this book ... for so many reasons. I love doing ministry and life with Sharon Jaynes and Gwen Smith. We truly are friends. Our hearts beat as one to connect with women and help them navigate the often chaotic waters of daily life. We don't have all of the answers...but we are on the same journey in learning to trust God.

Trusting God  is a great resource for establishing a meaningful daily quiet time but it is also a great tool for small group leaders who have never led a group and even for those who are veteran Bible study teachers.

God bless you as you step out in faith - He is waiting for you, girlfriend.

When it comes to God, we're often like a child who is scared of going off the diving board. We run up to the edge, look down and run back to safety. God challenges us to step off that diving board, not knowing what's underneath. He promises to catch us, but because we can't see Him, we waver. We think about it. We make lists of the pros and cons of doing what He asks. Instead of jumping, we find reasons not to jump.

God wants us to follow after Him with our whole hearts. Proverbs 3:5-6 says "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." God wants us to to trust Him -- even though we can't see Him and don't always know where He's taking us.

If you struggle with trusting God, you definitely want to get a copy of this book. Trusting God is a 12-week devotional study that will walk you through what trusting God looks like and how to let go and simply trust Him. Sharing intimate snapshots of their lives as they go Sharon, Gwen and Mary -- you might know them from the Girlfriends in God daily devotional -- take you on a journey of trust.

The book is set up to be used individually or in a group. Each section ends with a Bible study guide and space for journaling to help you get the most out of the book.

Don't miss out on this faith adventure. It will strengthen your relationship with God and teach you to trust Him -- in all things.

Trusting God has become one of those books where I thought.. ehh.. I'll just flip through & review it, but than once I got it in my hands.. I'm soaking it in. Slowly taking my time. Loving every bit of it.

What a great devotional and or study book!

Sharon James, Gwen Smith, and Mary Southerland have put together a wonderfully written `Faith Adventure' that touches on something that I think every Christian struggles with.

There have been many times in my life where I have had NO problem Trusting God, but than there are times that have totally caught me off guard and I realize that it's during those times where my `Trusting God' is truly tested.

Trusting God: A Girlfriends In God Faith Adventure is written in such a way that you feel like your sitting down with some really close girlfriends, but in reality you're just curled up with this book.

It's a 12 week devotional study that includes a Bible study guide and journal pages. It can be used as a group study or just a devotional for yourself.

No matter where you are in the whole `Trusting God' thing, I would highly recommend getting a copy of this book for encouragement, guidance, and a good spiritual pick me up.

And DEFINITELY check out the Girlfriends in God web page and the videos that they have coincide with the book. What a great resource.

Trusting God is a series of daily devotionals meant to reignite a 'girlfriends' trust in God. Each day one of the three women (Sharon Jaynes, Gwen Smith and Mary Southerland) take you through some very personal journeys during which they learned a lesson on trusting God. These journeys range from meeting friends, having children, loss and gaining. The fruit of trusting God through everything is evident in the happy endings. Throughout the book, you can see how God is there, always. These women want you to see this, embrace this, live this. Fully trusting God. Always. Their life stories are proof and they want to share. Girlfriend to girlfriend. Heart to heart. Woman to woman. Through their pain and triumphs they want you to know that letting go can be more ever more rewarding than clinging to the stump holding you to earth. God can do amazing things, as the ladies share, when we release and let go to Him. Trust Him. Trust His ways are better. How much more evidence do you need than three women pouring their hearts onto pages and glorifying God for all He has done?

None. Although it would be nice for you to experience it on your own, right? At the end of each section there is a chapter to reflect. Ways to apply what you've just read about to your own life. Ways to 'let go and let God'. Without these chapters I think the book would have been redundant. But hey, God never changes. His blessings come when we trust Him. They never change. So I guess hearing over and over how God can bless any circumstance can never get old. If you don't want to take the time to read, then don't. But if you need to know, need to be reminded that God is in control, His ways are better than ours, His plan is eternal than this book is for you. Trust is hard, especially with someone Who we cannot see.
