Fascinating! It is a must read for anyone who takes prescription drugs and for those who want to keep their health. Too many doctors hand out prescriptions to mask symptoms instead of getting to the cause of a disease. So we are left with taking a shoebox of meds that do not heal, counteract with each other, and cause more problems. This creates repeat customers, not happy ones. Thank you Marcia Angell for your exposure of this dishonest industry.

It is very good to know about the truth, mainly when you have to deal everyday with prescription drugs, whether being a doctor or a patient. It is very sad to know that marketing is above research and that medications could be much more affordable. I am a physician and I got really astonished with these reports, made by Dr Marcia Angell, who used to work in the edition of the New England Journal of Medicine, one of the most important in the medicine world. Profits are the aim, not the cure or the constant serch for the cure. The power of this industry is enormous and something has to be done to inhibit its powerful lobby around the globe. We are paying for the industry marketing, not for the drug itself. Physicians are seduced by drug companies since they are in Medical School with gifts,meals, congress refunds, etc in order not to realize this scenery. We should all open our eyes - physicians and patients and try to join forces and demand new politics or laws for this issue. Dr Marcia should be congratulated for her courage in publishing a delicate subject like this, standing in her position as a physycian and an ex-editor of the NEJM.

The author is a very knowledgeable, practically an “insider”. She reveals facts supported with data that all americans should know. We’re being exploits by big Pharma for years, laws have been passed - and the results or the lack of them are vividly described. I couldn’t put the book down to get some sleep...

This book really opens your eyes to big pharma, and makes a person like me who is heavily influenced by western medicine to take a step back and think about prevention and analyzing treatment options. If big pharma is profiting handsomely off of the drugs they are developing, chances are they are putting profits over human and animal welfare.

"The Truth About the Drug Companies: How They Deceive Us and What to Do.." is information each of us needs to understand. You cannot fight against something if you don't understand it! These companies are all about profit and they don't care at all who gets hurt. What kind of people profit from the suffering of their fellow man? This system isn't just broken, it's detestable.

This is a fantastic book that will make you SICK!!! Just to see what "Big Pharma" continues to do to us is AMAZING!! People yell about oil company profits, but fail to see what the drug companies do to us every day. Their money goes to advertising, rather than research.......SCARY, but just knowing the TRUTH is a big help!! BUY the book! Be prepared for some REAL shocks!

If you want to know why health care costs are so far out of control, this is a must read book. It is written by the past editor and chief of the New England Journal of Medicine. Legislation passed during the Regan years put the ball into big pharma. It is a win win situation for them. If you thought big banks are too big to fail, big pharma is just as bad.
