These two, the H&h, grew up together in a gang of kids that all played together, went to school together and then as adults they are still friends. This is a very small town everybody knows everybody and their business. The heroine is the daughter of the Sheriff and her brother is a deputy. She went away to college and has return to teach the higher math classes in the local high school. She has big plans. She will earn enough money to travel and then she is leaving. She figures that by living at home she can reach her goal in one to two years.
The Winston brothers are a group of big, gorgeous guys. She has her eye on one of the twins. Beau is fun, never meets a stranger and beyond sexy. She has had a crush on him since they were kids. The twins are two years older than her. Duane is the other twin, he is rather stoic, never smiles and pretty much keeps to himself. She knows Beau would never give her the time of day but a girl can dream. At a big function on Halloween everyone is at the community center. Beau gets her behind the stage and things get hot really quick. But, before they can really do the deed right there on the back of the stage he withdraws and tells her he has to tell her something. It dawns on her that he is not Beau but Dyane.
Things go from there. She has known this guy since she was 10-12, so she has known him for years. They played together as kids but after high school she went away to college for 4 years and she has just returned.. She has no idea why Duane has pulled this trick on her but she is shocked that her response was what it was. I thought this story was great. I loved it. Great read. I read the 1 star reviews and I think they missed it. Yes, she was head over heels in love with this guy but I thought it was refreshing. She had very little experience with men, in fact she had no experience with men, a couple of boys, but that is hardly the same thing!! And then all of a sudden this guy is dropped in her lap, who wouldn't lose their head?
There is a bit of mystery involved and a surprise that she didn't see coming. I LOVED how Claire came thru at the biker bar! I LOVED IT< what a gal!!! She owns them.. It was so funny in their bantering back and forth. It was a fun read and I highly recommend it. I loved all these characters. There were a few with weird names that I could do without - they give motorcycles a bad name!! But they added a good part to the story.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 6/7/17
This book is Jessica and Duane’s book. In the beginning we are lead to believe it is a Jessica and Beau book (who is Duane’s twin brother) but things take a strange turn when Jessica finds herself making out with the wrong brother! Ha. I love this little twist. Duane and Jessica have had problems with one another since they were younger. You see, Duane was known for always picking on her and starting trouble whenever she was around. So Jessica never thought in a million years that Duane would actually have feelings for her… Even more, she had feelings for his twin brother so it is an all-around interesting predicament that she finds herself in. But getting to know Duane and his deep feelings for her allures her. And she finds herself falling for this bearded man HARD. Of course, a few little problems with stand in their way of happily ever after because Jessica has a wanderlust. She doesn’t plan on staying in her home town for long and Duane wants her and a white picket fence. So these two not only have to navigate and new relationship, but they have to navigate some issues that could potentially tear them apart…
Overall, this is a wonderful book. It is fun, charming, hilarious, and just plain sweet. It is also filled with southern charm, a hero that will make you swoon, and a feisty and sassy heroine. I can assure you that after finishing this book I will definitely be continuing on with the series and even reading more books by the author. I am officially hooked and can’t wait to see where the rest of the series goes and what other love stories the Winston brothers have to show us!
Jessica has grown up with the Winston siblings. Six brothers and their one sister. She has always been infatuated with one of the twins, Beau. He makes her head spin, ties her tongue and makes her weak in the knees. Beau is friendly, outgoing and too hot for his own good. Unlike his twin, Duane. Although identical in looks, their mannerisms and personalities are complete opposites.
Jess has always thought Duane hated her. He never missed an opportunity to argue with her, play pranks on her and just be an overall pain in her backside.
After escaping their small town for college, Jess returns four years later, taking a teaching position in the local high school. And runs into Beau at a Halloween event. And learns not much has changed in the way he affects her. With few words spoken, he steals her away for some kissing and groping behind the stage. All is heading in a very pleasant direction, until "Beau" reveals he's actually Duane. And suddenly Jess's world, and all she thought she knew is turned upside down. Sometimes you have to turn off the brain, and let the heart take over.
I loved the story. It had a bit of everything, laughs, tears, angst, suspense, romance, scary bikers, blackmail, secrets and hot bearded men. Jess did slightly annoy me. Her single minded focus on her "wanderlust" got old. She didn't see, or seem to care about Duane's feelings or his plans. She was going to give up her love for her grand plan. I was not really fond of their solution, but they both seemed to be. So be it. The ending seemed a bit rushed and their were a few unanswered questions.
I did like the book, and will probably read the next one. I'm looking forward to learning more about Cletus. He's quite the character.
