I have three daughters, ages 8-11. I wanted to do something with them as a daily devotional, but didn't have the time to write one myself. After researching a LOT of books online, I decided on this one. I am SO happy I chose it! I bought each of my girls their own journal, and I use the book to write in. The girls and I have learned a lot about each other (these devotions are great stand-alone, but also great discussion starters to go deeper) and a lot about the God who loves us.

The Dares are age-appropriate, and do not sound or feel trite like a lot of other devotionals I've read for girls. Very introspective thoughts, but great for sharing in a trusted group, like our own family of girls. :0) I asked my daughters if they ever really thought about their spiritual life in this way before doing these devotions together, and they all answered no. These are pivotal ages for setting a foundation for a real relationship with God, and not just going through the motions, or reading the Bible because it's what is expected. I believe any girl using this book could deepen (or begin!) a real relationship with the Lord.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Truth and Dare: One Year of Dynamic Devotions for Girls, by Ann Margret Hovsepian is a wonderful year long devotion and worship tool for young girls

The cover is enticing for the age group, making them want to open it and see what is inside. The daily reading and message are short, plus a journaling portion, then there is the "dare" part of each lesson. A triple dare each day to further explore God's Word and put God's Word in action in her everyday life in fun and creative ways.

My 10 year old daughter loves this book! She said after the first day that "it make me want to read ahead and do more". She does these devotion lessons without me having to tell her. She has really enjoyed completing the "dares".

I wish the cover didn't say "for ages 9-12" because my 16 year old was very interested in it. I'd love to see something similar for older girls.

Thanks so much to B and B Media Group for sending me this book for my review.

I received this as a gift from Grama, and she was able to post my opinion. It is a great book, for someone like myself who is a"older" teenage girl, and not someone who has just become a teen . I know it sounds silly, but we all are different in how we are able to grow. Some of us grow at a pace that expresses a country more then a city. Which I am a country. I am happy at 15 and a half,I am able to read this. If I had been 12 or 13,I would not have been comfortable with it. I live in the rolling hills of a small town, and go to church with my folks. I am not familiar with some of the problems in the book but have heard of them on tv. It has been written in a great understanding way, that the author has been in the minds of many teenage girls. How blessed to have had that chance. I am glad I received this book. My 12 year old sister would have been too young. God bless this author who wrote this. I hope a lot of girls my age receive this to help them through their days...along with their Bibles another of my fave books.

Truth and Dare, by Ann-Margret Hovsepian, is a fantastic, dynamic, one-year devotional for nine to twelve-year-old girls! Ann-Margret inspires, encourages, speaks truth, and dares girls to shine their light for Jesus at home and anywhere they happen to be. She challenges them to change where change is needed.

The devotional is filled with personal stories, puzzles, games, and triple-dog dares. It starts with a specific title, followed by Truth, God's Word. There's a section for `Got More Time?' and journaling space to identify and apply what God has taught them during their devotional. Ann-Margret tackles the easy, light aspects of a girl's life such as love, joy, thankfulness, etc., as well as the tougher subjects she will encounter as she matures, such as a deep faith in God and Jesus, prayer, forgiveness, dealing with family members, friendships, modesty, dating, sex, marriage, and even marital infidelity.

The devotional is set up for daily Monday through Friday separate devotions, and then a separate weekend edition. The variety of subjects and activities breaks the boredom of a regular devotional. The cover is absolutely gorgeous, girl-oriented, and relevant for today!

Girls need all the help they can get to grow up into Christ-centered women. I would love to see mother/daughter sharing as much as possible to bridge their relationship, giving an opportunity for prayer time for important issues.

Things in a girl's life change so much during this age period, and it's great to see someone tackle the issues and challenge them to live a Godly life.

As innovative and practical as this devotional is, I would love to see a new one year after year, even for the different age groups! Would have loved one for myself when I was this age.

We purchased each of our daughters this devotional. At the time, they are ages 8 and 9. A little over a year later, they have read through most of the book. We cannot say enough good things. The principles are sound and scriptural. There is a passage to look up with each devo, which I like so that my girls learn to look things up on their own. Some of the themes of the book include God's love, grace, and forgiveness; being bold and courageous for the Lord; and standing firm in your faith since following Christ is not always easy and problem-free. Tween issues are talked about, but in way that is very tasteful and appropriately prepares tween girls for issues they will most likely face. Of course, every parent should peruse the entire book before giving it to your daughter, to make sure it is a good match for your child. I can potentially see some parents feeling as if their daughter may need to wait until age 9 or 10 to start reading the book as opposed to 8. However, I feel most 8 year olds would do great with this book, especially if read with a parent for family devotions. Our approach has been to read it as a family, but then each daughter has time to reflect and journal on their own as they feel led to do so. The devotionals have sparked awesome conversations as a family.
