First of all - I wouldn't say this is precisely Yanni as you know him, for this is definitely not the the Yanni from the 90's. Since Ethnicity, Yanni has explored new paths and in a sense grow. I can't say that I liked all of his recent productions, "Voices" was an OK album and "Mexicanisimo" was a terrible abomination - do not buy that album! Truth of Touch on the other hand is really refreshing - it really is. It has very well thought rhythms and melodies, it has a very unique and new sound to it - I believe it is a great transition for a new totally amazing Yanni to come in the next album. As far as the songs, Truth of Touch, Seasons, Voyage, Guilty Pleasure and Nine are my favorites. They also have some voices music which is ok and not overwhelming and a few other songs like "I'm So" and "Yanni & Arturo" which are terrific.

If you want to know more or less what this style is, I would compare to "If I could tell you" with a little bit of more rhythms and electronic sounds - but the album is really completely new, I totally like it and honestly:

The ambiance of the album is just great, you can lay down in bed and listen to seasons, for example, and totally relax and imagine great things. This album is overall happy and energetic, it puts me in a very good mood. I also use it on the background to do homework.

I must say that you shouldn't expect LATA or Tribute at all - take it on its own terms, the album is great. GIVE IT A SHOT WORTH IT!

As a true Yanni's music fan for decades, I should say that this album is good but not great.
Yanni is experiencing new styles & sounds for recent years which make his music kind of different compare
to his golden years (mid 1980- 2000) with those unique & heavenly melodies we all love.

As we know, time changes everything; life, emotions, technology, music,...

Yanni became famous in 1993 with Acropolis concert when he colored his great music for first time with real orchestral instruments & world class
musicians. and then followed by 'Tribute' project. Those brought his studio music to life & to the world. He raised the bar so high with those soulful
songs that some of us now don't get full satisfaction by listening to new ones...

I hope this new album 'Truth of touch' be a good framework for Yanni to do it again.

He is the best.

You'll enjoy this album

Frist of all, what you need to know before you purchase this album is that is certainly more electronic than acoustic. Don't expect major symphonic orchestrations. Also, you should probably understand that this music will be different from Yanni's previous compositions. Expect to hear new sounds! If you are a long time Yanni fan, keep an open mind because this album will grow on you.

In the past, everytime Yanni has released something new I have made the mistake of judging it based on what Yanni has created previously. I found that juxtaposing new music to the likes of Santorini, Marching Season, etc only makes my listening experience a little bad because I am trying to find that connection between the new album and his previous albums. Folks... although in more sophisticated musical analysis, there are definitely nostalgic connections made by Yanni in terms of chords and melodies, don't look for a connection!

This music is brand new and my goodness it is amazing! Yanni has done it again, using rhythmic structures and melodic textures that are so complex they appear simple to the non-trained ear. Truth of touch is amazingly catchy and you will want to have it on replay. "Echo of a dream" starts off hinting at some of Yanni's "old" style and then smoothly transitions into an easy going piece. Look out for "voyage" - this piece is certainly epic. It sounds like something that should be on a movie soundtrack. I can already see people using the second part of the song for their own music videos on youtube. "Can't wait", there are vocals - yes. But these vocals are amazing and the hook is catchy! Yanni and Arturo is a masterpiece - pure music from two talented individuals. There is more on the album! I think you will be surprised.

Yanni has once again proved why he has 35 albums that have gone gold or platinum. I suggest you buy the album and see for yourself what amazing talent Yanni has. This album is new and quite groovy... I have mine on replay!

1st of all, I need to clarify that I am a HUGE yanni fan. I began listening to his music since I was 13 yrs old (1998) when I accidentally heard his music through one of my friend's cassette player. I've been in love with his music since. And I would have to say, I love 99% of all the music he created. Albums like "Yanni live at the acropolis", "Tribute", "In the mirror", "Dare to Dream", "In my time", "Reflection of Passion" etc were all GOD like. Absolutely awsome. This guy can blend in music from all different cultures and create multiple masterpeices. However, in the recent years I realized his music is losing it's own identity and classic Yanni feel. Ethnicity, his most recent album prior to Truth of Touch, was only OK to me. I don't hate it, but it was far from the classics produced from the early 90s. When I read online last year that Yanni is returning to create an instrumental album once again, I was hyped. The advertising "The return of Yanni as you know him" just got me more excited.
But when I finally got to listen to it this morning, I was dissapointed. VERY. None of the tracks were memorable. Most importantly, the whole album just didn't sound....Yanni. All the tracks were plain, and sounded like any average new age albums that are flooding the market these days. I'm not sure if it's the Mexico relating tours that affected him too much, but it sure was a bad influence. I mean, Yanni was a master, he gets inspiration from different music all over the world and does a great job incorporating it. His old album "Tribute" was so beautiful, blending traditional Chinese and Indian music. Nothing stands out in this album like any of his previous, and it has become at most a background music album to me. I refuse to believe this could be his work...especially after 7-8 years of wait.
