The background and flashbacks endeared me to Presley. There is a lot of action in this book and its well balanced with her internal struggles. The dialoge was impressive with one particluar conversation standing out. It was hot and steamy and funny all at the same time.
Presley: She is a bit of a wreck with her woman problems. Her uncle is a bit misguided in his attempt to shield her from her past which only adds to her craziness.
Lorcan: He is very considerate and attentive. Always looking out for Presley and trying to protect her without being possesive. He CAN'T be possesive. I thought it was original and funny that a shifter had to be picked by a woman and he couldn't make the first move.
He was like the first whispers of the day as the fog evaporated into thin air and the sunshine kissed a person's skin good morning.
'I can stop,' Lorcan offered as he kissed his way up to her lips again. 'Just tell me to stop.'
'No,' she replied, locking her legs around his waist as she pulled back a little to stare at him.
'No, don't you dare stop.'
'Thank Urseth,' Lorcan sighed as he gave her an irresistible smile. 'I don't think I could stop.'
If you like shifter books you will like this one. Cheers
There’s a lot of backstory that needed to be covered and that slowed down the story for me in some places, but it added much more depth to the plot line. I thought it was interesting that the bear halves of the ursithropes had voices, thoughts, cognition and arguments with their human halves(which are all done internally, of course).
I really loved the subtle Goldilox and the Three Bears references when Presley stumbled onto a stranger’s house. It was oddly ironic and completely necessary! We are also treated to a list of characters with small descriptions at the end of the book, which is pretty helpful!
There is an M/M pairing in the book, but one half of the mated couple was deceased so there was no interactions between the couple save for a few flashbacks that were completely respectful. Readers who are uncomfortable with that troupe won’t have an issue with the storyline. There is also a HUGE cliffhanger at the end of the book though so I suggest you have Book Two at the ready so you can dive right back into the action. And boy oh BOY was there action!
T.E. Ridener is a new-to-me author and I will definitely be checking out the rest of the series! This is a perfect read for any seasoned paranormal romance reader or someone who’s new to the genre.
Little does she know that her uncle has been keeping a secret from her that she has the ability to shape-shift into a bear. There is worse news to come she and the other bears must deal with pack of shape-shifting wolfs hell bent on wiping out the bears.
T.E. Ridener is an excellent writer her characters are well written so that you feel invested in their lives and want to know the outcome of the stories.
The is the 2nd series I have read of hers and loved all the books I have read so far. Just about to start the second book - Return to Kadenburg
This one read you won't regret.
