"Through meticulous research, contagious passion, and admirable candor, treasure hunter Bayerle explains why he's spent much of his life digging for gold buried on a luxury ocean liner that sank in the Atlantic Ocean more than a century ago. ... By reviving the story of a ship forgotten by history, he captures the political intrigue and human elements with the eye of a novelist." - Publisher's Weekly
"The author has meticulously researched legal transcripts, letters, depositions, and historical records of the events to weave and present a complex story of fate and treasure in a fun-to-read and fast-paced book that was impossible to put down." Wreck Diving Magazine

I love the personalization and attention to detail. This is a great easy read for anyone interested in the "Billion Dollar Wreck" story. We have also used this and the story around the RSS Republic as part of our homeschool curriculum this year on maritime history and engineering of ships.
Where would you go to look for clues of something that did or did not happen 100 years ago?
With so many crushed hopes, damaged family and his own life changed forever. How could the elusive treasure keep one man going in search of it?
“The Tsar’s Treasure” is an account of the final events of the R.M.S. Republic’s voyage. Many would know it as the Millionaire’s ship and a luxurious hotel on the sea. But, this voyage is tied to many world events at the time. You will be looking at the financial and political turmoil of many countries together. Secrets of why the R.M.S. Republic’s captain denied assistance from nearby rescue ships. You will learn about salvage awards to ships that help others in distress.
Most importantly you will learn of the hard legal and personal battles that Captain Martin Bayerle fought to save his salvage rights and ownership of the R.M.S. Republic. If you’re a history buff or just an arm chair detective, “The Tsar’s Treasure” will give you a wonderful insight to Captain Martin Bayerle's quest to salvage R.M.S. Republic’s and then watch “The Billion Dollar Wreck” to continue the quest to find the truth of what was in the cargo.
It was hushed up in 1909 and still isn't well-publicized to this day. Was it bound for the Great White Fleet? Or was it headed to Italy? Or was it headed to Imperial Russia as the front end of a big loan to the tsar?
The fact that the ship's skipper was J. Bruce Ismay's first cousin once removed only adds to the intrigue. Read it.
At the end of the day it seemed like I was sitting through an elaborate investment pitch. "Here's why there's. Untold riches available". Now, there's a trip coming together to go out and gather them. Maybe worth a read for the history. Way too long and detailed info about the authors battle for the rights to salvage and way too detailed a justification as to why there "secret" gold aboard. Add the risks section and you pretty well have a prospectus for the investment.
