When dry, the tacky surface of the VersaMarker holds the perfect amount of pigment/powder in a smooth, even layer. Brush or sprinkle your pigment powders on, and knock or carefully dust off the excess, then set. Crafters, this is not a glue pen. It isn't going to hold glitters or act as a glue. It's a low-tack base for powders (embossing, pearls, metallics). Pigment powders will likely still need to be set with a heat gun or top coat once they're applied.
It works great for paper, but I've used it on leather, PU leather, manicured nails, etc. Love it!
The ink does not have the same texture and tack as the pads do. The powders tend to not stick to the ink. Further, I have only used it for four words today and the brush tip is TRASHED. Brush tips are inherently delicate so you expect the need to be gentle; this is a quality issue, not a user issue. I'm posting a photo showing the state of the tip - top brush pen is my well-used Tombow blending brush pen, bottom is my NEW, used for four words to test it out Versamark.

Don't recommend, would return if I could.
Love that this is a brush pen, but unfortunately it just doesn't work well.
