Risa Holden and her older brother, Trey, were born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, and they both returned there after college. Trey is a lawyer, and Risa worked her way up over the years to her current position managing an art gallery. A year ago, following the tragic death of his wife, Trey moved to Diamond Creek, Alaska, and she's been visiting him and her nephew there every month since then.

Diamond Creek is a close-knit small town boasting a breathtaking variety of natural scenery, including mountains, glaciers, forests, and ocean. It is a popular tourist destination in the summer for hiking and camping in the mountains, and for boating, swimming and fishing in the ocean. In the winter, there are also terrific opportunities for downhill and cross-country skiing at the Last Frontier Lodge.

At age 31, Risa’s parents are hoping, for her sake, that she might find a kind and decent man to settle down with, but romance hasn’t been good to her over the years, up to and including her recent bitter breakup with a boyfriend who cheated on her with one of her closest friends. But suddenly, on her latest visit to her brother, she is rescued by a handsome cop, of about her age, when her car skids off the road, onto a steep incline, and lands in the branches of a huge tree. The attraction between them is immediate, mutual, and overwhelming.

What a memorable Meet Cute! Wow! I really liked the hero and heroine of this contemporary, romance novel. They are both honorable, compassionate people and, though the sexual chemistry between them is explosive, it is clear that they have far more going for them than a desire to have a cheap fling. The progression of their romance is compellingly done, and their HEA is very satisfying.

I am extremely fond of Diamond Creek, Alaska. I love the recurring cast of local citizens, and it is such a vividly gorgeous setting, I enjoy revisiting it again and again by reading and re-reading every one of the 15 books (so far) set in this fictional small town. Nine of the books are listed as the “Last Frontier Lodge” series, and six of the books are listed as the “Diamond Creek” series, but all of these books are in the same town. I have included a currently complete list of these books below, just beneath this review, for anyone who might be interested.

Another great story set in Diamond Creek, Alaska. These stories make you want to visit Alaska - and I don't like the cold!! This story is about the police chief. All the men in Diamond Creek are yummy, yummy heroes. Well all except one guy and he wound up in jail in another city. But, all the rest are good guys and great heroes. Now this hero was a cop in Seattle when tragedy hit. It was so bad that it sent him back home to Alaska where things moved at a much slower pace. He is very happy (or so he thinks) living the life of a bachelor and not getting close to the opposite sex. He has a problem that he just doesn't believe any woman would want to deal with.

that is until the heroine comes along. Visiting her brother from her home in anchorage, she is driving to Diamond Creek when a mother moose and her two babies appear in the road. Swerving to miss them, she runs off the road and stops in a group of trees. The first one to the scene is, you guessed it, our hero, the police chief. There is instant chemistry as they get her out of the damaged car.

There is LOTS of hot sex, humor, soul searching and HEA in this story. It is a very entertaining read and I definitely recommend it. All of these books are stand alone with HEA. A good read.

SPOILER - just a note. I found a lot of errors in the first part of the book. She when it should have been he. then she removed her shoes as she walks in the apartment, goes to the back of the house and returns, sits down and takes off her shoes again!! Then the name Ethan was used when I think it was suppose to be Eric. I have read several of these stories and didn't see the number of mistakes that this one had. So much so that it did get my attention. It did distract from the story a little bit in places but one just has to go back and read it over again to get it right. One last thing, I just didn't get why the heroine thought she was so unworthy. She was a successful career woman, attractive, good sense of humor, obviously pretty and sexy. So she wasn't a brain surgeon but her "issue" seemed a little over the top.

I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. I did not put the 6 in my review. Amazon did that and I have no idea why. I don't use profanity or nasty substitutes for words. Sometimes I just don't understand t he Amazon reviewers at all.

I liked this story, but I didn't love it like I did with all of the others. For some reason it seemed like the sex scenes were really ramped up on this one. You expect it with a romance novel, but goodness sake, this one was way over the top. I got to the point that I just started flipping the pages until I got to something with a little more meat to it. Hopefully the next time the story will have a little less sex, and a bit more of a decent plot, please? Of course it wasn't all sex, there was quite a bit of humor, and a lot of soul searching for both characters. Ohhhh and of course there is a HEA in this story, too..

Little did she know her life was about to change, she noticed a man climbing towards her he was a policeman. He noticed Risa and had a strange feeling overwhelmed him, making sure the driver was ok they waited on help to get her out. This story from the beginning has a strong attachment for Risa and the police sheriff. All throughout this exciting storyline you keep reading it holds twists and turns powerful feelings between the pare has its problems as both of them have their own indervidual relationship worries. At first it effects their relationship between each other someone needs to give in and trust their heart to the other . It's a must to read I just need to get the earlier books of this series.
