UPDATE: Bag worked perfectly. I researched for a carry on quite heavily because I have to start traveling heavily. This bag fits the 22X 14X 9X perfectly, rolls excellently. If you have short travel spurts and need to bring your office with you then this is it.
This roller is good -- good design, good materials, strong internal framing with protected corners. The quality is not amazing like the "Alpha" line, but still better than almost anything else out there. If you're used to Tumi Alpha, the main differences you'll notice are in the zipper quality (good enough but not outstanding -- definitely do not seem like they'd be indestructible as the heavy metal Alpha zippers do), and most obviously in the wobbly telescoping pull-handle. This T-Tech Network roller says (on Tumi's website) that it uses aircraft-grade aluminum, and that's probably true, but I'm looking at the two bags side-by-side right now and the Tumi Alpha series roller uses at least twice as much metal (the pull-up is at least twice as thick, and feels proportionately more sturdy). I'd give this bag 4.5 stars if not for the telescoping handle, which feels so flimsy it would actually require extra exertion to rotate the bag on its wheels if it were fully weighted. For my needs that's not acceptable.
All in all I think this T-Tech Network roller could serve well for a couple years depending on how heavy your usage, but certainly not a lifetime. For true Tumi quality you still need to spring for the original Tumi brand (which can sometimes be had on sale for reasonable prices; they discontinue styles regularly and those can sell for half-price or less).Read more ›
