This is a cut above your usual new age/metaphysical writings. First published in 1897 it's clear that Trine was influenced by the thinking of Drummond and Emerson, especially Emerson whom he refers to as 'the inspired one, the seer.....at Concord'. Nowhere have I read such a clear exposition on the practical means of connecting to and harnessing the Divine current that regulates every aspect of the universe and everything in human life. We are all heirs to a larger life if we would be open to accessing and purposefully operating the forces that lie within. For anyone even slightly interested in experiencing greater and grander portions of creation, I urge you to begin with this book and read it over and over and over and it is certain that a "full, rich life continually expanding in beauty, wisdom and power" will be yours.

This classic has real depth and power; eternal truths are presented in an appealing way. The author explains that thinking is a vital, living force and that the individual possesses creative power through the operation of thought processes. For a more detailed explanation, I highly recommend The Creative Process in the Individual by Thomas Troward. Everything exists in the unseen before it becomes visible; the unseen is cause and the seen is effect.

Hope & serenity are conducive to physical health. Faith is much stronger than fear whilst compassion & sympathy ought to be the response to hatred & anger. The soul must approach God directly, not through mediators like persons, doctrines or organizations. Trine observes that the mind is clean upon awakening; it is thus an ideal time for prayer or meditation.

Peace comes from within and faith subdues all negatives. It is good to be aware of the 'everlasting arms' as mentioned in the familiar hymn. All hereditary traits & influences can be overcome by spiritual communion with God. As for prosperity, God provides if one believes & expects this to be so. Do whatever you are given well and if it is not exactly what you want, consider it a stepping stone to better things. A sincere desire and receptive attitude guarantee results. Above all, do not hoard but circulate your material wealth wisely.

True worship requires only God and the human soul. Trine discusses various saying of Jesus, including: "The Father & I are one" and scriptural passages like the tale of the Prodigal Son.

I am an avid reader and student of the New Thought movement. I picked this book up because I wanted to get a sense of what writings might have influenced authors like Fox and Holmes. In In Tune With the Infinite, Trine teaches the reader to enter into an inner peace and attitude of goodwill, to pray specifically and expectantly, and to live one's way into a new plain of existence by way of positive thought. In practical terms, Trine brings our awareness to certain spiritual laws at work in the universe so that we might learn to live in harmony with those laws and benefit from their results. This is a book I will not pass on, but rather read and reread in order to fully absorb all its content. I did however purchase three additional copies for friends! Trine is most certainly a pioneer among New Thought minds!

Timeless, classic. For me, the greatest gift I could give anyone would be reliable inner guidance arising from being
'In Tune with the Infinite." May you be so blest. And I resonate with Ralph Waldo Trine's interpretation of the context and purpose
of scripture quotations. A wonderfully uplifting, intimate and practical book.

Ok, to put this in perspective, this book has been on the market for about 115 years!!, and it is still widely published to this day. Ralph was/is regarded as one of the original founding voices of the New Thought movement, and with books like, In Tune with the Infinite, it is easy to see why.

Unlike some of the other books from this era & in this genre, such as Prentice Mulford’s book, Thoughts are Things, this book is linguistically easy to read.

That being said, the main premise of this book is very similar to others in the genre with the belief that our internal dialogue and beliefs are manifest in the external: essentially our thoughts create our reality, “…so far as the physical life is concerned, all life is from within outwards.” Thoughts are forces and when we realize the power within us and truly believe in that ability, then we can create a reality that we want rather than live in the reality that appears beyond our control, “Thoughts are forces, subtle, vital, creative, continually building and shaping our lives according to their nature. It is in this way that the life always and inevitably follows the thought.”

This of course means that we need to take responsibility for our thoughts and for the outcomes that come as a result of them, an idea that many people do not wish to entertain because it is far easier to place blame on external forces.
Compounding the problem is that fear thoughts will bring with them consequences that are in opposition to what we desire. We manifest what we think about not what we want.

“The mind is everything, what you think you become.
