This movie is the most memorable movie in my existance. In 1985 this played on HBO shortly after its release and it has a special meaning in my life. I was 17 at the time. My girlfriend Debbie and I had a joke that everytime we turned on the TV, "Turk 182" would be on... and it was! It's a great movie, with the same passion of "Taps". Rent or buy it!

An underappreciated effort from the 80's about a young man who takes on city hall on behalf of his injured firefighter brother gets seriously hurt while off duty and trying to save a little girl from a fire. When his compensation claim is repeatedly denied, his oddball little brother decides to take matters into his own hands. With an idea taken from a scandal the mayor is already involved in, he starts a graffiti campaign to humiliate the mayor and signs his work 'Turk 182', his brothers nickname and badge number. Almost immediately, he becomes a media sensation, with the news becoming a worldwide phenomenon. But the mayor has the entire Police force hunting for him, and his chief of security will stop at nothing to catch him. With a little help from some of his friends and a pretty, young social worker assigned to his brothers case, a nobody quickly becomes a hero and fights city hall. But his last attempt to show up the mayor might get him killed. Featuring fine performances all the way around from Timothy Hutton, Robert Urich, Robert Culp, Kim Cattrall, Peter Boyle and Darren McGavin. The version I got on DVD was Italian, but has an English option. A fantastic, highly recommended hidden gem. Family friendly. Very little language and only mild adult situations. The word inspiring comes to mind.

Long out of print on VHS, "Turk 182" was a most sought after tape. Its great to see it available again, especially in Widescreen. Tim Hutton is really convincing as a fella who idolizes his older fireman brother. This movie holds more magic today, mainly because of 9/11. This movie has wit, charm, class and enough joy to outlast any chick flick. Yeah, it's a chick flick for guys! Directed by Bob Clark, who also made "Porky's," but don't hold that against this film. A great family film.

I ordered the movie and it arrived it perfect condition. Unfortunately I failed to note that it stated in the description that it was a region 2 DVD. I've seen the movie when I was young and like it enough to purchase a Region Free DVD player so that I can watch this hard to fine movie.

I have four brothers and this movie does a great job showing a "brother's love". If you are synical and like to pick everything apart you probably won't think much of this movie but if you have a heart and like feel good movies, you'll love it!

One of my favorite "rebel" movies. Unfortunately, dvds of this movie seems to be a very scarce commodity. Check out prices. This vhs tape was the only way to get it. I managed to make a dvd copy for my own consumption though. Google for vhs to dvd for info on how that is done.

One of my favourite movies from the 80's and still great to watch now. If you haven't seen it before - A twentysomething guy's older brother gets hurt while risking his life to save a young child. The resultant injury means he can't work and no compensation is available. The younger brother tries to get someone to notice his older siblings plight and goes all the way to the Mayor of New York. However, the mayor insults the injured man and sets in motion the rest of the movie where the younger brother gets revenge for the insult. Kim Catrall is gorgeous as a just out of school social worker and love interest of the younger brother. By the end of the movie you'll be cheering out loud - TURK! TURK! TURK!

Timothy Hutton defends his older brother when he is injured for responding to a call while off-duty and intoxicated. He fights back by sloganing messages across New York City to fight for his brother. A defient character and a rebel with a cause.
