Very knowledgeable. He has a lot of information about all the different turkeys, habits, where to find them, calling etc. I would highly recommend.

This is a good book full of exactly the information you would expect from the title. Some of the information, such as calls and decoys, is a little dated but I would still recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about this topic.

I gained an interest in turkey hunting after seeing wild turkeys in N. California and wanting to learn more about them, how to hunt them and prepare them. . I think this book covers the first two aspects very well and with good detail.. Preparing the turkeys in my opinion fell short when it came to dressing (plucking , chopping, cutting, scooping, slicing) part. i know the book isn't a cookbook and is geared towards hunting. we've all see turkeys before, but being inexperienced, I wasn't able to vision it all in my head and pictures or at least line drawings of the dressing process would have made this book more clear/precise and a perfect 10 for me. Throw in a color photo of the Grandslam and its an 11...

This Book was very informative. I went Spring Turkey hunting for the first time last year and I had a blast. The problem for me was that I wanted to know more about it and didn't have anyone I knew that could really teach me. This book was really good about teaching you the habits of turkeys as well as there habitats. By getting a better understanding of turkeys via the information provided in this book I'm ready to slay some Rio's in the spring. Interesting fact about this book is that it included the plans to make your own wingbone call. Something I plan on doing this next season. I would highly recommend this book if you are new to the sport of Spring Turkey hunting.

Turkey Hunting Tactics has proven to be a very good reference for various aspecs of turkey hunting. It made for very good e-reading in my deer blind toward the end of deer season. The only drawback for an e-reader is that the pictures weren't of very much use. This book helped me transition to a turkey hunting mindset and helped me develop my turkey hunting strategy. To use the old saying "the proofs in the pudding", two days into turkey season and two nice Tom's are in the bag. If there were only one word of advice that I could give to a novice turkey hunter it would be "scout".

Well written & easy to read. Solid explanation of turkey habitat and behavior by region with a variety of tactics clearly explained. Well worth the purchase. A little more emphasis on safety and the hazards of following turkey sounds would be a good addition.

As the author of several books about turkey hunting, including "PhD Gobblers" and "The Turkey Hunter's Bible," I know a little something about turkeys and turkey hunters. Gary is a master turkey hunter, and I've been in several turkey camps with him. He's traveled all over the country chasing longbeards, and has hunted with some of the greatest turkey hunters of our day. If you want to learn the sport from one of the true masters, this is definitely a book for you.
