I purchased this kindle book as a companion to a travel guide for an upcoming visit to Turkey. It appears to have just the right amount of detail to understand the history without being overwhelmed with detail. However, I quickly discovered that it has no table of contents to help flip to a desired location. I.e., if you would like to read about Ephesus, you can't easily flip to the Ephesus section except through the "search this book for a word", which produces too many dozens of hits. I also entered other less-common locations which it did not contain. I am sure the content is good, if not especially thorough, but I am going to try to return it as I hoped to more easily reference background on locations I intend to visit. This work, published for Kindle without a TOC, may be an informative read (I don't know) but it seems it would be of limited use to have along on a trip.

If you are looking for a guide to Turkey's Aegean Coast, this will probably do. It's good on the land attractions - not very helpful for sailors - and lacks the depth of research I look for in travel books. But it can be used as a first reference, to begin planning a trip. I wouldn't rely on it as my only source of information, though, since Turkey is rich in history and culture, and this book seeks mainly to tell you about places to stay and eat, and things to do.

whether the content is interesting or not (and i'm sure it is)
having a non linked table of contents means scrolling randomly through 3000+ pages
defeating the point of digitalising (and wanting to sell) it at all
life is too short, frankly

I found this kindle verison very difficult to use. The lack of an effectvie and detailed index meant that i had to continually go back to the table of contents and Then reread sections in order to locate information. A lot more thought needs to go into making this an e book that has a user freindly referecne system.

This book has a wealth of information and research as its basis and is extremely well set out and documented.
A thoroughly enjoyable read - and a handy reference book for the future. Well done to the author.

Content is great, but the Kindle version does not have any pictures, though there are references to them in the text.
That's unacceptable for travel guide book, I can't figure out whether particular ruins are worth visiting or not
