I found this one, and realized it was different, but was drawn by the title and it's link to the scripture passage. This book was gentle, but it spoke into the depths of my heart the things I was experiencing. I gave it away to a friend after losing her grandmother and am seriously considering purchasing copies to give to those I work with who are grieving loss.
This book was my introduction to the work of Henri Nouwen, and I'm now hooked. I have since purchased The Return of the Prodigal Son, Dance of Life, and Wounded Healer, and have been so impressed. A great read, highly recommend.
Shortly thereafter, I ordered four copies from Amazon. One copy to finish reading the book for myself and three others to share. In just over a month, all of my copies are gone! And the response from friends and family who have received copies of Turn My Mourning into Dancing has been equally amazing. Through this book, you will see a framework for a biblical doctrine of suffering, you will see that suffering is not about judgement, but is about the Father's great love for us. Nouwen shares the secrets that were life-changing to him has he sojourned here on earth. Every page reveals another layer of God's methodical work of grace and mercy in our lives as He conforms us into the image of His Son Jesus.
I have given to friends at funerals, at their homes, and sent it through the mail. So, my suggestion stands, read this book and give it away. Mourn with Jesus over your sin and watch as he heals your woundedness.
